Many thanks Dr. Segal for informing viewers of Shrinking Trump about your new channel. I've always been fascinated by the topic of happiness. During my training in meditation, I discovered Matthieu Ricard, a Tibetan Buddhist monk and author of many books, including one entitled "Happiness" (Plaidoyer pour le bonheur in his native French). It's a masterful, insightful work about the nature of happiness. I think you would definitely find it of interest in case you already weren't aware of it. By the way, I really appreciate your low-key, understated, unassuming, thoughtful, insightful, and kind temperament and style.

Feeling content makes me happy. It's usually what I think other people would find boring. Things falling into place, my puppy and I vibing, watching or hearing something I've missed for a while. Kind Strangers.

Thank you for this channel, Dr. Segal. These are incredibly interesting questions. The thing that makes me happiest is moldy oldy music. Some of it evokes joy, some emotional responses, some more somber feelings. But, it all makes me happy. The rest of the time, throughout my life, I have been mainly ridiculously content. As a pragmatist, it seems to be difficult for me to spend time determining how I feel about something as opposed to determination of what next steps to take to solve problems or increase satisfaction.

There's happiness in immediate moments where we find sudden joy. There's happiness in long-term achievement or satisfaction. There's an entire spectrum between those fleeting seconds and a lifetime in retrospect. Happiness is as wide-ranging and enigmatic as Love in its simplicity & complexity. I find that happiness is more prevalent when we open our eyes & hearts to it, wherever it awaits us.

Thank you, Dr. Segal. I've enjoyed your 'spots' on KZitem. Happiness, for me, can be a moment -to-moment occurence. It can be found in the beauty all around us. The beauty of people and the beauty of nature. I feel privileged to be working with children - a great source of happiness for me. It's likely that relating to them brings my inner child to the surface.

Art and driving a car also both relate to truth. That's why a photo or copy/forgery of a piece of artwork is much weaker impact. Driving is interacting with a dynamic changing truth, so is free-form dancing and jazz .

Happiness is transient. I think thats normal. Like the happiness you feel at the beginning of obainting something new, it eventually wears off. Hope makes me happy. Without that you have very little. Most people believe money will bring them happiness. It can help make you comfortable or it can become a problem. It just depends on how you handle it. My greatest lesson in happiness so far in my 66 years is learning acceptance. Sometimes you just will be happier if you learn to deal with what life brings up. Sometimes it's hard. Be kind, decerning and open to learn. Be ok when you make mistakes. Tell your loved ones how you feel. Be there when you can help. Life is short.
