The parallels between the tragically short lives and careers Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix are uncanny. They were born six weeks apart, and died two weeks apart. Their careers lasted about three and a half years, and they released their first albums three months apart.

🇬🇧 Ya know, it's funny. I'm 60 this year, so I've grown up "knowing" of, and maybe heard just snippets of a Janis Joplin song. But now? She blows me away, and I understand completely when you (Jay) said that "when you hear Janis sing, it makes you somewhat emotional". I get that. And it's all thanks to your channel, & Amber's reaction to Janis when she first heard her. So....I think what I'm trying to say here is "Thank you, thank you for exposing my ears (& heart ❤) to the magic of Miss Janis Joplin. 🎼💖🎶🎙️✨

One of these days you need to see the movie The Rose. I think this is one of the most magical live performances she ever did... just legendary... the way her silhouette saunters up to the mic and the spot light shows her... so vulnerable, so soulful and honest... no gimmicks, no showboating... just pure emotion. She is singing to her younger self, and to all the troubled souls in the world.

That was great. As you know janis was my idol since I was 15 years old. I can sum her up with one line from Joe jackson 'I'm not a happy man but I'm not always sad.' that was janis et that is me. so just sit back down et count your fingers cuz you never gonna feel happy. janis was that way but she wasn't always sad. My girl. My soul mate. My teacher. My idol. and she never fell off of her perch. She was as real as one can be. I made a vow way back when to be as true to myself as I could be, just like her. And I did it. God bless her. Best wishes. and thanks for loving her too.
