Gunnar, thank you, still keeping in shape and trying to stay strong for another 10 to 15 years. My dad skied until he was 95.

@@skiwhh Your dad ( like you) sound like great role models for all skiers! I'm a mere 67 and intend to ski as long as possible - but there again I'm really a wise 16 year old ( in my own mind and that's where it counts) Keep safe, keep skiing!

Hi Harald, I'm wondering if the inside leg of a carving ski goes slightly forward in front of the outside leg when turning

Hey Harold - I am 54 and been revamping my 80’s skiing to modern PMTS thanks to you. Unfortunately I have hip replacement in the future. Is that going to relegate me to greens ever after? Thanks 🙏🏻

Not so, I have a hip and a knee replacement, I'm two years out in this video. Also, I have torn and ruptured both my achilles tendons, proper rehab and dedication, will get you back to almost 100%

Harald, your narrow stance is reminiscent of the elegant Stein Erickson method/ style that I learned in his Sugarbush, VT ski school.

Hey! Nice videos Harald! Is there a certain reason why you have a relatively narrow stance?
@skiwhh
2 жыл бұрын
Stance width has many functions and reasons. First is boot set up. Incorrect boot set ups force a wider stance when the cuffs are too strong. Balance is the bottom line, efficiency is also extremely important. Wide is less efficient. Also, a narrow stance is much more elegant.

@@skiwhh Smooth, elegant and efficient turns - it must be Mr Harb! A pleasure to watch as always. Great to hear your thoughts on stance width. The obsession that many instructors have on wide stance is a myth that won't die! Take up PMTS instead! Best wishes from the UK.

@@languagetruthandlogic3556 Thanks, to elaborate on the narrower stance; the boots, amount of hip-width, technique, flexibility, and boot sole alignment play a role in how you develop your balance. It's really not about stance width it's about "BALANCE" and where your feet and body balance best. People who tell me to stand wider want to put me out of balance, they don't understand skiing or biomechanics. Ski instruction has huge holes in their indoctrination of technique to its membership, and they just can't let go of it.
