the worst part is you really never know what someone is going through. i was helping an older man at my job, and i’m the extra mile type. i will go very far in my customer service role naturally (as long as they’re nice to me) and by the end of the interaction he thanked me and told me how his wife had just passed and things had been hard. you wouldn’t have had a clue the whole time that his heart and life were just ripped apart. this goes for everyone, not just older people too. it costs nothing to be a raging asshole to people. you have no idea how even basic kindness can revolutionize someone’s day.

The worst thing about these pranksters is that they turn things that aren’t a joke for some people into a joke, such as having ocd or making mistakes. It makes people less forgiving of those who ACTUALLY have ocd or are prone to making mistakes. Lying about having mental issues as a joke is just evil. It’s part of why some people aren’t taken seriously if they bring up the mental issues they have that genuinely need certain accommodations, but they aren’t taken seriously because people who don’t even know what it’s like to suffer from them just use it as a joke when it’s not at all a joke for those who’s daily lives are impacted by their condition.

It was $4500 to take the dents out and re-wrap the van in a non-spraypainted coat so it didn't look horrible out on the town. Why would you choose to harass people who are literally at the end of their life and have already been through so much? Even so, with that naive understanding of the world based on movies, it's the classic case of targeting the vulnerable. It's not at all stupid, it's psychologically evaluated on even a social scale. The elderly are weak, like this is basic biology, buster. Most elderly people they're harassing probably aren't war vets, and even the ones that are--you have no idea what that does to you mentally and therefore physically if they are war veterans. You don't just come out still strong, especially as time goes on. I think your take is so stupid, pure childish ignorance.

The reason why the world sucks today is that we are mostly farmed to be productive members of society, which in practice means that we're here to use 120% of our productive hours to provide labor for corporations at the cost of our ability to truly live.
