Hello Mario. I actually detail the exact oil in the third video at about the two minutes mark. And that was a common question so thank you for raising the issue.

Thanks for the video! When I buy something from Harbor Freight, I am cognisant of the fact that I'm buying a potentially disposable tool. Or, in the case of this tool, that I will need to do immediate maintenance like this. The couple hundred dollars that I'm potentially saving is that I'm buying a tool that is 'nearly' finished. I expect stuff like this, and I'm (and many of us are) willing to do this to save money.

Mineral spirits will do just as well, be fire hazard safer and probably be ok for gasket.

@ 12:20 - Not sure if you figured it out, but there is a separate bolt, when threaded through the motor mount, pushes against the main casting and tensions the motor/belt.

haha i laughed my ass off when you was bitching about harbor freight not deburing it horrible freight never looks at anything there right off the boat and sent to the store, if your going to buy from horror freight get used to it china dose not debur anything again china makes them just work and that's it they don't care if it last 3 min or 30yrs but they sell to fail so they can sell more. i shop at horror freight all the time but i buy with knowing the chance of it lasting will need a few hrs of work to it to make it last. but you buying a $800.00 saw for $200.00. this was my 1st band saw 20yrs ago ya it eats blade and i have put a motor an belt on it 15yrs ago and at the same time made new gears and put bearings in it and its still going though only in vertical now as i bought a much bigger grizzly 4yrs ago now. an the chiglish manuals are a joke and are best in the trash just google any info you looking for theirs lots an lots of posts online for any problems you could have with it. thanks for sharing

An Archimedes effect with the oil is quite ingenious really. Mine does not have as much play as yours, being that my main shaft is machined and positioned just right. Mine is the Draper model.

Well I see what I’ll be doing tomorrow. Just bought one of these a few weeks ago, has been used very little, looks like new, but I want to make it as good as I can.

When tightening any cover you should start from the center and work your way out. Great info so far!

Hi Theball, Yea I did notice that. Thanks for the tip though. Great comment for the KZitem viewers!!! Interestingly on mine, just the the weight of the device the way it is designed was sufficient. I have cut some pretty thick and heavy materials and it's been good so far...

Glad you enjoyed the video Robert. It's a good idea to pop off the cap and just inspect. It only takes a few moments. Pay attention in the video as to the position of things when you pop off the cap to make sure you don't have a oil running everywhere. It's actually designed quite well to do a lube change out.

Is that gear throated ? It looks like it, that's a good sign at least. Not as good as double throated but still better than non throated, will last a good while longer with that configuration. (edit) Did you happen to place a small magnet inside the housing? I have found that doing this prevents any debris and wear shavings from being suspended in the lubricant, they are easily cleaned off at every oil change. Just another layer of preventative. Cheers.

What oil did you use for the gearbox? Is it available from WalMart or AutoZone?
