Do the drums wear quickly? I will be using it to strip paint off dirt car body panels so similar use but not as much removal as a drag car. Thanks for the video.

I like to razor blade the paint off first. Then my regular 5" sander from Harbor Freight gets the primer off pretty quick. Getting through the paint is the longest part. Never used one of these. Thanks for sharing.

Update: bought one, took two drums of 40 grit to strip a large 1973 Gran Torino Fast Back. Averaged around 30 /45 min per panel to bare metal through multiple layers of paint. Great tool, more projects to come!

From viewing this video, this system looks somewhat slow and tedious. Do you think that it could be because your Camaro had LOTS of coats of old paint? I ask because I have two vehicles I want to do and both of them only have their original paint from the factory. Also, I wonder about using this tool after using a paint stripper chemical? What do you think?

Do you think this would be too aggressive to remove a bad rattle can paint job without sanding off the factory paint underneath?
@samg5543
10 ай бұрын
YES! this will go thru the paint almost immediately with a coarse wheel. You can try to use a softer, less aggressive wheel if you want to just remove a couple layers. A DA may actually be better for that though.

Hey thank you for the view and comment. I’m using the black wheel it’s the most aggressive they call it a 40 grit I believe, but it leaves close to a 80grit finish that wheel is the only one I would recommend for stripping paint

@@MatthewRikard33 I used 220 grit sandpaper and used this same stripping wheel over the 220 and it seemed to blend into the 220. I believe it is a 220-260 not a 40 or 80 grit. I'm wondering what is the deal with these burnishing wheels because I tried 320 burnishing wheel on a 220 grit sandpaper and it did not take off the 220. I had to use a 120 burnishing wheel for it to behave as a 320 grit sandpaper. I'd like to know your thoughts?

Why would you sand blast sheet metal and risk the Warpage??? Maybe the trunk and jambs but not the actual body unless you want to spend $10,000 and hours trying to get it straight just cause your too lazy to take the time to actually work and strip the paint correctly.
