Why can't you just put some cleaning solvent in the cup and run it through the sprayer to clean it without taking it apart?
@grumpycat_1
4 жыл бұрын
I agree that detail cleaning it thoroughly when you 1st get it is mandatory but honestly I just flush mine now... I used to detail clean my guns every time but now I just flushing it with Paint thinner (Mineral spirits) works very well and takes about 3 min. To flush it after a spraying session I open the guns setting full blast and fill the cup, shake up the gun and spray about 4-6 oz of paint thinner through it, then I clean the cup with a rag soaked in paint thinner and refill the cup with about 4oz of acetone... Spray that through it, pull the needle wipe it down with paint thinner put it back in and spray another 2oz of paint thinner through it. Then I just wipe the gun down with a rag soaked in paint thinner, and put about 1 oz of thinner into the cup and set it on its stand, I leave it "wet". Doing this makes the gun last easily about 10-20 spray sessions. And at $9.99 each once I get one that starts to spray poorly or gets "sticky" I part it out, put it in the ultra sonic cleaner it and grab a new one off the shelf, I keep 2-3 "in stock" and just buy them on sale with a 20% off coupon. I have sprayed about 12-15 gallons through my current gun using only the simple flush method and it still sprays nicely.

Tip only: Take a common bread twist tie that has plastic on it and burn off or melt the plastic off with a lighter or match. The metal left is excellent for cleaning out small holes or orifices with. Better than a toothpick in reality. Do up a couple of them to keep in your cleaning setup kit.

As soon as I'm done spraying, I dump out the remaining paint and then run lacquer thinner through the gun, shake it up, dump it and then do it again with more fresh thinner. I rarely disassemble my guns because running the lacquer thinner through them immediately takes care of that problem. Also...never let the paint sit inside the gun for long.....ESPECIALLY if you're using any kind of hardener in your paint.

A cheap Harbor Freight gun is still a complete waste of time. Cheap tools represent the single biggest mistake DIYers make when approaching these types of projects. Also, never look at tools as an expense ~ they are an investment that you can sell once the job is done, and in the end it will cost less than renting. Best budget HVLP Systems: 1st choice: Fuji 2202 Semi-PRO 2 & 2nd choice: Earlex HV5500.

Excellent review, I think I have the same gun. What surprised me about the instructions was the manufacturer recommendation to keep pressure above 30 psi, which is higher than those with most professional HVLP guns. What happens when you shoot at lower pressures with this gun? What is the optimum distance from the nozzle to the work piece?
@clh9933
5 жыл бұрын
It takes more air pressure to get a finish with little orange peel on these spray guns. With a more quality gun like an iwata ws400 or devilbliss prolite you'll be able to go down to 20 psi and still get a showroom finish. Also don't turn your fluid tip all the way out. Youll be more likely to get runs or sags besides these spray guns already waste a lot of material.
