This is the 5th tile project we've done where we've removed the old tile before installing new tile, and the first one with this tool kzitem.infoUgkxqqoaX03nrziKwF7Bjjcc71YzLEleMvOS . I want to cry for all the unnecessary work we've done in the past. With this tool, we removed tile surrounding a fireplace, as well as the hearth tile, set in loads of cement, in less than an hour. I highly recommend this tool. It was easy to use, and very satisfying watching the tile literally fall off the wall.

Excellent, first video I have seen that shows how versatile the tool can be, gonna buy one now. I was taught to hand hammer planish copper and pewter many moons ago, the hammer marks were considered decoration but in fact they work hardened the material if I remember rightly, anyway, as you say it can be used as a finish. "half a beer can" cracked me up LOL

I have one in my workshop and it has never let me down or disappointed me. I use it for finish work with a range of home made tooling for it. I have found compliant anvils used with crowned anvils gives good stretching. A hard nylon anvil works well on alloy.

If you know how to use it. it's a fantastic addition to a shop. The most complaints I hear are usually from people who don't have the skill set to use it properly. In its place it's a great tool.

Jim Harvey Happy to report that things still going great after a year of use. Nothing has worn out,cracked or failed and it still works perfect. I have made lots and lots of parts on mine and still very happy with it. I have made a selection of upper and lower tooling to suit my needs and got a very useful selection. Very happy buyer!

Question! I need to hammer small dimples into 1/4 inch (#2 guage) thick bare copper wire, with the rounded end of a small ball peen hammer, without distorting the round shape of the wire. It is purely for a hammered decorative appearance. Do you think it's possible to fabricate a small rounded head for the top 'hammer' and regulate the speed of the blows to quickly hammer the decorative effect on the entire piece, without flattening the wire?
@JHV166
7 жыл бұрын
Absolutely not.. What you are describing is a perfect example of hand work with a small hammer (now that I said that 50 people are going to add links to the modification you're talking about LOL).. Let's put it this way, YOU COULD modify the hammer with an adjustable air valve and foot pedal and make something that would work.. I should NEVER discourage anyone from experimenting. SO GO FOR IT (how's that for a 180?)

I'm also surprised at the quality of HF tools like this. I wouldn't use it if I was still turning wrenches full time, but now that I'm retired and use them occasionally hobby level, you can't beat them.

Hello JimThanks for posting this video, I have been looking for cost effective alternatives to larger more commercial air hammers, I know HF has this model but a cant seem to find anyone that can answer the important question. Can this hammer handle 16 gauge mild steel or stainless? Any chance you played around with those gauges?

I doubt that would be in your best interest as blacksmithing requires more control than planishing you would not want it to rapid fire like that.
