My man on the left who got thrust hard still won the open longsword and got silver in sword and buckler. That guy is tough 💪

That is Miro Lahtehla, the 9th ranked longsword fencer in the world, whom I have had the great pleasure of getting my ass kicked by.

This is why I prefer SIGIs. The Feder looks like a Kvetun and I love how they handle, but they need more flex (mine was 16kg flex) and an archery blunt or a spatulated tip. I've had a lot of rib injuries from stiff Feders with roll tips (inc Regenyei) + jacket penetrations + one hand penetration. 12,5kg flex is the sweet spot for competitive longsword imo..

I had a hand penetration last year against a Regenyei rolled tip, will never fence against a sword without extra tipping again

@@thomastucker7317 I hope you healed up well. Me too, 3 stitches before Xmas, Regenyei rolled tip. I wear 800N olympic gloves under my Sparring Gloves now.

Sigis are awfully wobly, and you can order almost any company's feder to flex you specify. Here it glanced off from the mask, so the feder's flexibility wasn't the real limiting factor of the thrust. Hard hits happen, it should be a martial art/ combat sport not a chess competition.

It was a nasty thrust, and Håvard got plenty of those. I faced him in the pools at that event, and he got one on me. I felt that one.

Damn dude, if you pause it just right, you can see his mask ends up with a serious dent in it.

Indeed you see right. :) There was a very big debt in the mask that hit the fencer's mouth: he was bleeding from it. However he is Finnish, so he just borrowed a new mask and went to win

Nothing broken, he is a sturdy Finnish guy. :) The metal.mwsh of the mask was badly dented and deformed. He got a cut on his lip and some head pain. He ended up winning the match and getting the gold

Yall are so weird in the comments saying he stabbed him to hard or his sword is to stiff. Its fighting, with swords. You should fear getting hit in competition as if it were with live blades.

It's a sport. It's historical fencing. There are safety standards, and blades are supposed to be designed for safe flexibility for thrusts. It's not a real sword fight, and no one is supposed to get hurt.

This is what really cracks me up and why hema is made fun of. Might as well fight with foam swords. Dont like getting hit with a sword dont get in a sword fight or add more protective layers.
