Cheers John. If you like Robots then you are in for some nice treats. I think I'll be doing them for a few weeks now and building up to the sort of stuff we do in film and TV. I can't believe we are doing this on an iPad!

Didn't realise you could hard-surface modeling quite so easily in Nomad. Very nice.

It was another great video. Plenty of new things to learn from one video. I got the course and it’s very well thought out.

Thank you for this series! You’re the most thorough and have gone on over way more than anyone else. When I first bought Nomad I was able to stumble my way through it, having experience with drawing and traditional sculpting, but you’ve made it so much easier.

Beginner Course has been GREAT! Love all your content and really looking forward to all your new stuff coming up. Been contemplating buying a quest 2.... (Charizard video really put the bug in my ear)... Not sure if I really need that or just keep working on my tablet/ipad sculpting... But you sure make it look pretty intriguing!... As an Art teacher, I feel its just another cool and fun way to do MORE digital art! GREAT STUFF. Thanks for all you guys do!

Snap Brandon!😀 I’m also a teacher and thinking of getting an Oculus Quest 2!...and learning Blender. Those 3 should cover most 3D creative projects. Looking forward to this hard surface course as well.

Thanks Brandon. it really is hard deciding which new software or hardware to adopt next BUT, and I think you'll agree with me here, none of them matter when compared to the art basics. I always bang on about understanding line, form, silhouette, perspective, lighting, shadow, colour theory, composition, etc. bring far more important that what tools you do it with. It's hard these days as there is so much mind blowing stimulus pushed in front of your eyes from phones, tablets, TV, VR, even stage. I always love to see art teachers who reign all that in and ask their students to stay focussed on the basics and improving week by week not against something they saw on Artstation. Learning to sculpt in VR is easy if you can sculpt! Learning to sculpt is the hard bit

I decided to learn Blender so I could teach it. I can already sculpt in it quite well I just wanted to make sure I could teach the polygon tools well enough.

I'd be happy to do a live KZitem or a Zoom and go through the basics of VR creation tools and which are best. I'm currently doing an MA in Digital Design with Extended Reality Creation Tools (mouthful sorry) and I guess that would make me qualified to talk on the subject. There are so few people who can teach this stuff and it took me years to find a University to take me on and allow me to do a professional practice MA in a subject with so few industry practitioners. It would be great to get a group of educators together so we can target the session. Keep numbers small so we could have interaction as I go through all the tools.

@@SouthernGFX I would love to see this type of video, along with a discussion of workflow and when you might choose once tool vs another, or choose to move from one tool to another. Merry Christmas and thank you for all the wonderful content that you post!

Great stuff! I got your course and ready to dive in but Santa will need to give me some time to start the course. In regard to 3D printing I have been making some things (with imported meshes) in Nomad and have run into issues keeping my models watertight. I believe the issues arise when adding textures (stamp tool and the extract in the mask tool) that are too embossed or debossed. My prints turn out great but the models have errors in them. Since the models approach 1.5 gigs, programs like Netfabb or Meshmixer struggle or fail. i hope your 3D printing content helps avoid these issues-I'm sure they will. Thanks for the great content.

Someone pointed out that Blender is better for hard surface modeling... But honestly I don't mind doing all those chip-outs in Nomad Sculpt :D Guess it's much faster to do it this way instead of learning Blender...

Hello! Thanks for the great tutorial! I figured out how to chip away at a solid! Question: I'm working on a high poly model of a car and need to chip away at the solid volume inside the form. How can I join forms to chip away without needing to "voxel remerge"? When I remerge, even at ridiculously high resolutions that nearly crash my Ipad, I lose detail in the grill of the car. Thank you!

i love your videos and got some off you for black friday. Im curious; Im interested in making my own toys for 3d printing, then later finalizing and casting in resin (or just buying a resin printer). Can I ask, How would you go about making a keying system for the body/head/arms/hads/legs so they all slide into eachother and can be glued. Then same question, but to be able to pop into eachother/lock to be removed later or multiple times like locking joints. Like if you wanted to remove the body parts for painting. Id pay for this video as well by the way. cheers!

Try this video next and then reply back and we can take it a little further. kzitem.info/news/bejne/mK2fk52dqHZhiqQ I do what you are describing professionally and it does require other software as you get more complex.

Is it just me, or does Nomad not save settings, even per file? I have to enable the extra buttons (such as Snap button for the lower left tool bar) every time I open Nomad, even when working on the same file. Is there a way to save them so it's always there? Not a big deal, but it would be nice.
