I dig listening to Jake play. Sure, it's great that he's giving us the low down on Jimmie & the T-birds but I'd like to hear more of Jake Andrews.

Greeting from Texas, Jake! Awesome playing! This is one I’ve always wanted to learn. I just love the way the notes pop when The Master plays this song, especially the solo. I also love the way Stevie glides effortlessly between major and minor pentatonic during his solo to match the chord changes going on behind it. Just gorgeous! Stevie’s playing was always technically clean and precise, yet full of pop, soul and raw power. Lots of guitarists have one or the other but seldom both IMHO. It’s what I love about EVH too. You’ve done a great service in making this video and I know it is the product of many hours in the wood shed pouring over SRV’s music no doubt along with The Kings (BB and Albert) and Mr. Guy and Mr. Collins and of course Mr. Hendrix to name a few. Thanks so much! (I dig your taste in guitars there on the rack behind you too.)

That's a Jimmy solo, no?
@BI-km6dl
3 жыл бұрын
@@MichaelReeps Good question. I suppose it’s possible. For me, it sounds like Stevie and feels like him when I play/ hear it. Comparing to Stevie’s other recordings; the bends, the phrasing, and the “pop” (attack) sounds more like him than Jimmie. But hey, that’s just my opinion. I wasn’t in the studio during recording so I can’t be %100.
@MichaelReeps

@@BI-km6dl Totally, I can't be sure either. I've always thought it was Jimmie because 1) it really sounds like Stevie on rhythm, and 2) I am pretty sure it is Jimmie who says "Roll, and I'll just feel something".
