Finally, someone is addressing these issues. This is my 3rd year in the west and I noticed many of these issues. Some people are bringing the culture and traditions with them to the Masjid.

So true. Isn't so sad that indigenous Muslims can't find a place in the masjid? I don't understand how people come from another land then shun those from here from the masajids. May Allah guide us all ameen.

I’m a convert living in the United States 🇺🇸 and I totally agree with this. Sometimes I feel isolated going to masjid because usually the khutbah is in Arabic and I don’t get the full value of it simply because I don’t understand.

I agree with and the biggest issues that keeps people away or busy is they have to make money to pay bills that just keep getting bigger if you start making more money, it's like some don't get baraka and keep working and never stopping till life passes them. So people need to focus on priorities like their deen and the deen of their children and how to safeguard them against all forms of kufr. And ask Allah for Baraka with the time and money. And another issue is people are spread apart far from each other we don't see each other expect 15 minutes of Friday prayers.

Even though Islam is supposed to be a universal religion, one finds out that there is a Pakistani Islam, a Maghrebi Islam, a western African Islam... and culture has more weight than the deen itself. They are hermetic communities

This situation is not only in America, but in my country also where 90% of the people are muslim. The mosque remains empty most of the time. So far I know the Sahabas (r) used to gossip in the mosque, marriage used to be in the mosque,and there was a hospital inside the mosque during that time. Mosque was the center of pretty much everything.

Ya Allah, kenapa macam ni? Saya fikir dekat Malaysia sahaja macam ni dekat sesetengah tempat. Bukankah Islam tu bersaudara? One of my friends with tatoos(a revert for just few days)went to masjid to join jamaah salah,he was treated like an outcast. A friend of mine,a Muslim who performed 5-daily prayers but didn't wear a hijab was questioned when she entered the masjid with us when she want to pray Fajr(the Fajr time was almost finished at that time for we arrived late at the masjid while on a journey,the brother's harsh 'khutbah' and plenty of questioning nearly made her missed her salah until I grabbed her hand and pulled her away and scolded the brother(She just want to pray!) I also at some point last year(2023) faced some criticisms when joining jamaah prayer(Maghrib and Isha') at the masjid, a lady better to pray salah at home(he talked loudly behind the curtain so that I can hear him). I was there in hope to get rewards for jamaah prayer and waiting if there's any Maghrib kathira so that I could have some rewards and dua from the angels.
@Pagalchhagal

I agree with everything except that you don't need to have women in masjid to build a strong community. women's salaat at home is more superior. women should be encouraged to organize at homes or separate spaces.
