Hari Prasad C. is truly one of the worlds greatest musicians. I have been listening to indian classical music for 40 years and he always takes you away with him and he can keep this up for hours. There is no better improvisor in any language. He has dozens of albums and seems to play a greater range ragas than most of his peers. A treasure worth seeking out.

Lovely. I bought a bansuri in Varanasi and im practicing for 7 month now. Still im amazed by the sound of this instrument. I enlightenment would come with music...im quite sure Bansuri would be a part of it. Even tough i never met pandit Hari Prasad Chausaria, i listen so much to his music..at some level i see him as my guru. I've uploaded a clip (Bansuri Guitar Jam session) wich is not a Raga.. but i would love it if someone could give me advise how to become a better bansuri practicioner.

Pt. Hari Prasad Chaurasia is the topmost flute player in India.he has full command over all the notes he plays on Bansuri. I wish that he should play the flute as played by Late Panna Lal Ghosh in song 'Chup gaya koi re door se pukar ke'in film Champakali. Will shri Chaurasia oblige me. Thanks

ive heard ronu in recent times and he plays very poorly suddenly. I mean, I am a Pune resident, and people here have a fine taste in classical music. There were times when rarely anyone wanted to clap. It bordered on shocking. I attended some private performances, in colleges etc. I used to love his playing..but of late, 'Mazaa nai ayaa' Hariji can barely hold his flute now, vibrating hands, moving neck, breath losing power, still he plays simple but heavenly pieces of music, like flowing water

Sorry, Ajankumar, this piece is not from "Possession". Yes, the raga is the same as in Possession (Raga Hamsadhwani), even the accompanist is the same (Zakir bhai), but the "gat" or composition is totally different. Listen to both of them again & you will know what I mean precisely... If you are a student of Indian classical music, I can explain the difference Rajendra

No Sanjay, traditional music is, as you put it , "open source" certainly the heritage of ragas is open to all. It's only since the 20th C and the rise of big music and its overhead of businessmen and lawyers who get seriously worried over the ownership of what musicians freely borrow,. Quality is the only issue. When you steal a lick, you just take the chance that they might say Pandit C. did it better.
