Habe die Challenge leider verpasst. Gibt es eine Wiederholung in '23?! Wäre klasse!!! Besten Dank und bleibt so, wie Ihr seid! I unfortunately missed that challenge. Will there be another one in '23?! Would be awesome!!! Thanks and keep on doing what you're doing!

It's easier than I thought, and it needs materials that are low-cost and easy to find. I will definitely try it in the future. Thank you so much!!!

Anytime! It really is not rocket science, you only need a lot of patience for the sanding :)

Hi Thomann, any chance in the world you would introduce kits with maple fretboards sometime? I for one would definitely be interested then.

and quality body woods aswel as an option. It is fun building it but sooner or later you will let it go for someone else... unless the wood is/are good ones from a start.

One suggestion for editing the on-screen text: it’s “excess” oil rather than “access”. Great instructional video, other than that!

My order is a bit different. I'd first use the 240 sand paper, then water the wood, then use the 600 sand paper (maybe finishing with 1000 sand paper indeed), (if I wanted to apply some color stain - this is the moment) then apply the oil (rather pure boiled linseed oil) with a towel, remove the access and repeat that a few times with half a day between the layers. Guess there are different ways to achieve the same goal.

Gteat demo. I think this is not the strongest protection, but Thomann probably worked out that it was enough. How else can they give us such wonderful prices? I start with damp 240, then dry 400, 600, 1000. I have tried several versions of oil finish, usually with minimum 10 coats and 7-10 days curing once dry. If using Tru-Oil, each coat can be spread on and dry in under an hour by adding a splash of white spirit to oil. Several coats in one day. For Liberon Finishing Oil, the wood will be better protected but there is a much longer drying time, at least one day between coats. With either oil, can finish with 0000 steel wool rub down till shine is gone, surface us flat. Then buff with mildly abrasive buffing cream, and finish with Black Bison Wax. A luthier told me most of these tricks. I'd like to try other oils. Happy finishing!

How often do I need to reseal an oil finish? Surely once is not enough, or is it?

you can use different oils aswell if they don't go rancid. walnut, olive or baby oils work great. you can melt beeswax and add in some of the oils and polish the wood id you're after the gloss.

Is the process the same with boiled linseed oil? Bc I've seen tutorials with linseed oil, but then getting wet sanded with mineral spiritus or something

tip for cheapskates: you can use different oils aswell if they don't go rancid. walnut, olive, linseed, baby and massage oils work great from my experience. you can melt beeswax and add in some of the oils and polish the wood id you're after the gloss. make sure to test your oil/wax before applying to the entire workpiece.

Der große Nachteil an Euren Kits ist, dass sie bereits mit Porenfüller vorbehandelt sind. Es wäre schön, wenn Ihr auch unbehandelte Kits anbieten würdet.

You might wanna use an orbital sander. That stuff is thick.
