This is my favorite Chevy Chase movie because it wasnt just him acting like a maniac. It was very nuanced and the comedic timing was perfect. Mix that with a great supporting cast and a soundtrack by the great Harold Faltermeyer and you have a great 80s movie experience.

I don't think he ever acted like a maniac in any motion picture. He did however in SNL, most especially in the Gerald Ford sketches and quite recently in Community.

Hadn't seen it in 15-20 years, but I just watched it tonight on the IDH movies channel. What a classic! They had little popup trivia info from time to time, and one that said that this was his favorite character to play. It also said he ad-libbed a lot of the scenes.

Memories of me watching fletch back in the summer of 1985'' i was just 10 years old that year And i do remember watching this movie throughout the summer we had warner cable at that time And they played this movie constantly on HBO, Showtime And Or Cinamax lol yes im taking it way way back before netflix😊😊😊 Besides all Chevy Chase Movies were hilarious back in the days😂😂😂

Still sad we never got a Fletch / Axel Foley crossover. To see how Chevy Chase and Eddie Murphy, both doing their "con-man" schtick, might have played off of each other, _and_ to hear what Harold Faltermeyer might have done with it... The Fletch Theme has such an interesting synth patch to use for its instrument lead. Not many composers would choose such an unorthodox sound these days. The 80s were a much more experimental and creative time for music.

Sh*t listen to 1 and 4 almost remind me of a Bollywood/Hindi cinema film from the 80's/90's (the 80's didn't end in 1990 for India LOL, they kept going in a horrible clash of both haha)... Beautiful long haired women with extremely sharp features that are soft and cute at the same time lol... As an American-Indian kid born here, but whose parents were born in another country, ...this stuff always reminds me of being a kid watching a combination of both " Hollywood/Bollywood" movies that were terrible. They only had beautiful women in them LOL
