Nestled between Syracuse and Rochester in Central New York, the community of Auburn is said to be the only place where the 4’ 11’’ Harriet Tubman lived, worked, and died. Along with her work in the Underground Railroad, she also acquired land for a house for the aging, which is now a National Historic Landmark. Bishop Harry V. Proctor of A.M.E. Zion Church would like to see a larger welcome center erected in Auburn for a renewed connection with Tubman’s life work.
