I am a retired firefighter captain from the south with 25 years of firefighting experience but I completely enjoy watching HFD's videos! Everything each assignment-function of operations moves (not runs) with organized purpose on the fire-ground! Even your Chauffeurs are on the move taking care of associated responsibilities, to ensure fire crews have their needs. I will say there is not too many fire videos that impress me watching their fire-ground operations evolve! Keep up kicking the jobs and be safe!!!

@@KPaul77 My city service requires full turnouts be worn whenever attending any call of fire. An overheated popcorn bag in a microwave on the 13th of 16 floors and every member stepping into the lobby has on full kit. After the all-clear sounds then people can make themselves comfortable. Best Practice dictates that the right way is to do it the safe way every time then there are no lapses in judgement that *one* time.

@@puirYorick that sucks. Thankfully my city allows its firefighters to use their judgment in what is both practical and equally as safe to accomplish the mission to rescue both life and property as fast as possible

That one dude has some pep in his step. Seems a bit excessive on all the hose. Two lines with that many venters would of probably done the job.
@virgilhilts3924
Жыл бұрын
Not excessive in the slightest... One charged line for the attack on the primary fire side plus a back-up, then a primary and back-up in the other unit ready to be charged if needed. It's far easier to lay in dry line just in case than it is to wait and start working with a charged line.

No need to cut a hole in a perfectly good roof when you have a small fire in the house, just go in with a charged line, thermal image camera, gas cool as you go and put the fire. Total waste of time being up on the roof, just vent around the fire compartment as quick as you can.

@@jonathancouch6261 rubbish you guys are obsessed with cutting holes in roofs for no reason. Vent near the fire compartment and put the bloody fire out quicker, it's not difficult. Stop living in the dark ages.

@@jonathancouch6261 I've just retired after 25 years. Trust me the fire ain't in the roof and if it was the quickest way to put it out is lift the loft hatch and put some high pressure hosereels on a fairly wide jet to knock the fire down. Putting that into a loft space with a fire makes every litre you use expand in to 1700 litres of steam which knocks the fire down pretty quick. Stop pissing around cutting holes in roofs when there is no need. If you are going to vent then do it in the fire compartment or as near as possible . Far more effective.

@@andyoxleyonhistravels I understand what you are saying…but they did already have 2 lines interior prior to anyone on the roof, the. They were making a 3rd line as boots went on the roof. Honest question, guessing you’re from the UK, could the difference I. technique be based upon the construction type? This appears to have a small dormer on the roof.

Great job with the exception of the running. there is no excuse for running on the fireground. Its already a incident and with Cardiac issues killing Firefighters almost every day there is no need for another incident to happen. Where was the SAFETY OFFICER ?
@KPaul77
2 жыл бұрын
That’s why we are in shape so that we can run on the fire ground hence getting to victims sooner as well as extinguishing a fire quicker, well before a safety officer can even get up from behind his desk and get to the scene

First of all I am not knocking your department I just don't agree with running. I just entered my 52nd year in the Fire service and have attended dozens of schools and received many Certs and I can tell you that the instructors always stressed not to run on the Fireground . I have seen some departments running on abandoned structures, WHY? Its dangerous and there is not need to roll the dice of getting a Brother or Sister injured. Stay safe
