Saw Harry onstage in London 1991, and he was superb. His take on this obscure Sinatra gem is effortless. To think he was in his mid twenties when he cut this track with a big band, at a time when grunge, acid house and rave was sweeping the charts. It shows how far ahead of the curve he was. A class act, FS would be raising a glass of JD in heaven to him.

+Rob Jones Excellent comment, back in the 90s i bought this particular VHS (which this song is a small portion of it) excellent material BTW,many a night was spent in good company drinking adult beverages and listening to the whole tape, this man is in a class of its own. although FS is my absolute i like Harry's version better.

+dntlss And to think that clown Robbie Williams tried to emulate Harry with his dismal parody of The Rat Pack, years later. He should continue his Norman Wisdom impersonations......

The song is not so much an ‘obscure Sinatra gem’ as a classic penned by Jule Styne (music) and Stephen Sondheim (lyrics) from what is widely considered the greatest Broadway musical of them all, Arthur Laurents’ “Gypsy.” Connick, as is his wont, offers his unique & untrue to the melody take; nobody can murder a song quite like Harry.

For not expecting or wanting to do the song, he pretty much crushed it.

Its NOT a Sinatra gem--Its a gem from GYPSY!!! in both the stage version and the 1962 film with Natalie Wood!!!!!

Indeed...Sinatra had nothing to do with this being a gem. The thought is humorous.

What a class act! He is how Sinatra would be if he had been born in our times. A bit dissapointed that he doesnt use "all" of his voice, he always try to tell a story by singing low and slowly... like Sinatra did, but I think its not his best point.

Its a disgrace that Harry decided to destroy a beautiful song that Frank Sinatra sang so beautifully and was accompanied by the great Duke Ellington. Mr. Connick could have introduced a new generation of his Fans to this great song. He should be ashamed of himself with this pathetic comedy routine. Frank Sinatra and the Duke are probably turning over in their graves. Shame on you Harry and how unprofessional.

I have seen Frank do this (I am 75). Every singer should do it their way. Frank Sinatra was great, HCJ is an entertainer that was raised and tutored by the best, since he was 8. He arranges, acts , sings, composes, plays trumpet, drums and is a genius on the piano. He tries different genres of music. Do not compare, no one is the same. Try to criticize yourself - not others on subjects that you know nothing about
