Thank you for this; and thank you Harry Hamlin for making this movie; I remember it very, very clearly when I was almost a young man; ground-breaking cinema and I really enjoyed the movie. Is it possible to have this interview subtitled?

Can you believe that any of this stuff was even an issue in 1982? God save us from ignorance and the hateful violence it produces.

But the "Hateful Violence" also lives in "those people". And when I say "those people" I am sure you know who I mean. It's just a fact and it's the reason why so many of them have so many problems in their lives. [There is a lot to work thru inside of themselves].

What makes the film unique is the tittle itself, "Making Love". The actor here learned of his preconceptions of what it was to be gay. In mannerisms or in behavior, for the character Zach in finding his true feelings did not want the ins and outs of one night stands. He experienced and found out in Making Love. Although not reciprocated by Bart, in terms of commitment, he was emancipated and although it was heartbreaking for Claire the character as written. But in the final reel of the film it has remained nostalgic and quite simple story of finding oneself. ❤

Unbelievable (but entirely believable) how much bias is embedded in the repeated questioning about the decision to play a “homosexual.” But I was there opening night, saw the film, and remember the coverage about this film in a not-at-all positive way. Harry Hamlin comports himself wonderfully here.

They "edit" their own questions so it reflects the answer given. I have seen it be done on many interviews in the 80s.

I think the host was re-doing her lines for checking sound or decided to do her own lines again...

It's a "Single Camera Shoot", so when the video tape spools are edited together, the director can easily choose whether to "stay" on Hamlin, or cut to the "interviewer". This technique is still used today, 2023, but less & less, due to the fact that multi-cameras are being used, shooting in two different directions, yet still in synchronization. BCRadio
