I don't know if anyone else has mentioned it but the reason why the Basilisk CGI looks so incredible in some parts is because it's not, it's a full-size practical animatronic head and neck for the close-ups. They only used CGI for when it's slithering around and for when you see the rest of the body. Also, at the end, the reason why Hermione and Ron don't hug is because Emma Watson was really shy about hugging both of the boys (she also had a major crush on Tom Felton, who played Draco!). Finally, the post-credits scene does actually get picked-up in a later book as he's in "St. Mungo's", which is a magical hospital for witches and wizards.

Just letting u know about the blood statuses. There's muggle-borns, half-bloods and pure-bloods. Muggle-born wizards and witches are magical people from muggle families. Hermione Granger, Lily Evans-Potter, Dean Thomas etc are well-known muggle-borns in the franchise. Pure-bloods don't have any muggles, "mudbloods"(muggle-borns) and half-bloods in their entire bloodline. only two pure-blood people can have a pure-blood child. there were only about ~30 pureblood families in Britain and they were all kinda related (purebloods didn't mind to marry their second cousin, for example). James Potter, Malfoys, Weasleys, Longbottoms, Blacks are famous purebloods. And yes, they all were distantly related through Blacks. for example, Draco's mum is Narcissa Black (Malfoy), Arthur Weasley's mother (Ron's grandma) was Cedrella Black. Ron is Draco's third cousin uncle. Neville and Draco are third cousins, Ron (and his siblings) are also related to him, Harry is a half-blood (because of his mum) but he's Ron's third cousin, Draco's second cousin uncle (Harry and Narcissa Malfoy are second cousins) etc. some of the pure-bloods are scared of muggles, they hate them because they think muggles are dangerous with all those weapon. (some muggles are actually afraid of wizards too: Dursleys hate them for the same reason: they are scared). Some purebloods are ok with it (such as Weasleys) and are curious. a lot of pure-bloods consider them as blood traitors Most of the wizards and witches are half-bloods. All combinatiins (except muggle+muggle and pureblood+pureblood) will be half-bloods. Dumbledore, Mcgonagall, Voldemort, Seamus Finnigan etc.. There's also squibs. This is not a blood status, but squib is a person who was born in the wizarding family (or 50/50 wizarding) and don't have any magical powers. Argus Filch is a squib.

For example, in fact Harry got Dudleys second bedroom pretty early in the first book. The reason was, that the first letter was written to: Mr Harry Potter; Cupboard under the stairs .... So they gave hin another room, as a try to trick the wizards. You'll encounter some things in the movies, that seems pretty odd. Mostly it's because, they didnt provide an information from the books.

It's interesting to see people react to things due to them seeing the movies before reading the books. Changes between books into movies are interesting due to why they do it, whether due to the different mediums or just the story the movie needs to tell in the amount of time. Personally I would love to see a season for each book of a tv show where voice acting has to be done because animation was the medium. That way it would still be possible to use a good chunk of the actors (more of the books story without still doing a play-by-play of it) and change them without the visual annoying people due to it not being the same person who was in the movie. The actors who played the kids talked about how much Shakespeare they learned due to filming with Kenneth Branagh. It's hard to see Professor Sprout without seeing Miriam Margolyes' interviews anymore. Don't get to see many people make the realization in the moment about who Tom Riddle is. That was great that you were left unspoiled. "Don't worry, I will be" was an ad-libbed line that the director allowed by letting Lucius Malfoy's actor to lead Daniel Radcliffe into. It became the highlight of the trailer before the movie was released.

Improv lines by Draco : 'I didn't know you could read' was epic when u think of it as improvised by a kid. The crew was also very impressed with danielle's presence of mind when Lucius Malfoy in the end said, "Let us hope Mr. Potter will always be around to save the day" and Harry stood up to him replying, "Don't worry, I will be"

Much like with Jurassic Park, the reason why the CGI looked so good is that they used practical effects for the close-up shots and they used that big puppeted rig as a model for the CGI wide shots, something I wish movies did more of nowadays.

Love your in depth reactions. Always spot on. As youve learned in the movies people born without magic are of course called Muggles. People born with no magic but have magical parents or family are called Squibs. That's why Harry's Aunt Petunia hated her sister Lily and Harry so much, because she was jealous of Lily and the rest of her family having abilities while she herself didn't. Argus Filch is also a Squib. Thats why he's so hateful to the students.

My Duuuuude, you're doing so well! loving this shit! I have seen so many "first reaction" videos , it's just...such a GREAT thing when you're a "level 1000 potterhead" to see other people discover it for the first time, even if it's "just" the films. 7 out of 10 fuck it up immensely, by either hating on everything, laughing about everything, talking over every single second - you got that right, so yeah, thanks for that! Hoping to see more from you in the future AND hoping to hear some more predictions from you in the future while you're watching ;)

So sad the Richard Harris passed after this one:( This is my favourite Harry Potter film. Everything about this movie just comes together so perfectly. There's nothing to establish, cause the first film did that, we know the characters already, so you can focus on the plot itself. The music, the actors, Richard Harris, there's really a magical quality to this film. The others are good too, but this one has that Harry Potters adventure feel to it. Love it.

Fun facts I’ve read in Hogwarts, a history: Tom, Dan, and Rupert were actually afraid of Alan in real life, but Alan never knew When Lucius comes into Dumbledores office, you can see his brown hair in the back because of the bright lighting Ron’s slugs tasted like chocolate Rupert is afraid of spiders in real life (he has arachnophobia) Emma had a crush on Tom and Dan had a crush on Emma and for a little, Tom had a crush on Emma J.K Rowling thought about killing Ron (scary, I know) Quidditch is a real sport (apparently ppl don’t know this) the snitch is a person and there’s no brooms For the Dobby scenes, he was a ball on a stick When Harry slays the basilisk, his hand was nowhere near the tooth until the next clip Tom has to bleach his hair every 10 days blonde There were 7 owls who played Hedwig Harry accidentally made Fawkes his horcrux, therefore he cannot die (that’s how he survived in deathly hallows) Jamie (crabbe) went to jail in real life Tom is a hufflepuff And last but not least HARRY POTTER IS THE BEST

The horcrux thing is not true. Not only did Harry not kill anyone (there's more to it but that's the biggest requirement), but it's also explained in the book why he doesn't die in 7.

Chris Columbus, the director here, showed many times that he knows how to get good performances from very young actors ('Goonies'). Kenneth Branagh (Gilderoy Lockhart), a fine director and actor, recently showed ('Artemis Fowl') just how unusual a knack that is.

Fun fact about the Basilisk: its design in the movie is not that of a snake, but rather a legless lizard. Basically its head is just not a snake head. Snakes do not have eyelids or ears. It also lacks the distinct belly scales that snakes have.
