I love how by the middle, Kakuryu had figured Harumafuji out and started to dominate him. People tend to forget how talented Kakuryu was, because he was obviously always overshadowed by Hakuho.

injury more then any skill demonstrated by Kakuryu caught up with Harumafuji... both excellent fighters in their own right but Harumafuji was faster, quicker, more agile and demonstrated far more tactical skill over his time in the ring...

Litterally every rikishi ever, is being overshadowed by him, on all accounts, and by far. But, Harumafuji had many years left in him, maybe he would have become even better and more known.

Harumafuji is fast, but his speed has to be traded with his light weights. His bouts with Kakuryu were either ended by Harumafuji's quick and intense attacks, or by Kakuryu's using his size advantage to force Harumafuji out.

Kakuryu is really underrated due to having many Yokozuna contemporaries. But he managed to seal 6 Yosho in the most competitive era of sumo, which is better than 70% of his Yokozuna predecessors. It's an amazing achievement ❤

I like how the gyojii says the names of the rikishi totally different than how I say them. It also amazes me how the gyojii can remember all the names, even in lower divisions.
@TheNotoriousDUDE

Every division has its own set of gyoji, and the top division even has different gyoji for maegashira and sanyaku ranks, so it's not like they have to remember *all* the names, plus you need to consider that refereeing and leading the ceremonies is literally a gyoji's entire job, so they have plenty of time for memorization, and the wrestlers' names are also announced by the yobidashi before each bout :)
