I'm Mexican/Spanish, but I'm fair skin. Even speaking spanish as first language I would still get over charged. My mom told me it was due to my being fair skin cause there is still a classist nature. I mean I didn't believe that shit till I was hanging out with my cousins and they were saying how there is hella internal racism between white and dark mexicans/spanish. This could be just area issues like some of my family is in Mexico City, but most live in the border towns Ojinaga and Tijuana or just inside Chihuahua. So, this is all just my own experience.

I feel like this is an example of, take your money somewhere else. Harvard does not hold the status that it use to have. It's an overly priced diploma mill. People can just pay for 1 course and get a degree, Tyra Banks and many other people of wealth has done it. Unless it's a specific skill that school excels at (John Hopkins ~medical) take your money somewhere else. That's a private school, they don't have to let any Asians in. The real question should be, why do you want to pay 100K to a school that discriminates towards your ethnicity that's not in the top for any specialized skill?

I’m a “gifted kid” who cruised through school and got a 33 on the ACT without studying and Ivy League schools started sending me stuff to get me to apply. I’m attending community college instead. Harvard, Yale, all the fools who sent me stuff are just popular because they’re old. And if the classes really are harder, then I’ll just be stressed and sad. Too far from home, too much money, just sounds like a waste. Mind you, I’m Hispanic, female, and low-income. The only reason to go to an Ivy League school is if you want to be a lawyer or a politician and the name will be useful when getting hired. I’d rather just go to community college and state school for the degree and then start hustling. 🤷🏻♀️

Ok so y'all got the whole thing wrong on the Japanese case. It is the biggest medical school and lowered women's score tests because when they do become doctors, they believe all women will leave the workforce after having children. Literally no one here in Japan was ok with it and the university was not "upfront" with this discrimination. This didn't only upset people because the medical industry is already known to be very sexist, but also because of all the old people we have and will continue to have need to be taken care but aren't because of the shortage of medical workers.
@waterblue2261

Actually this is related to the reason why there is a low birthrate. Once a women has a child in Japan, the society there expects and pressures you to become a house wife. No women wants that. And when pregnant the women's job will be at risk or receive pressure since Japan has such a strict workaholic society.

JK had such a great conversation about freedom of speech in the last video, so I was a little dissapointed in this coversation. The reason they were giving Asians lower scores was because statistically they out preform all other groups across the board. Now that minorities are being directly affected by the results of Affirmitive Action (in a negative way), they see that this type of program is not fair. *Affirmitive Action is justified and legal discrimination.* It does not adress the real issues that persist in these minority communities and instead only perpetuates a victim culture. Affirmitive Action is something that should have only been a temporary fix, but the government has been sitting on their asses allowing the real issues to continue. More and more people are becoming aware of this and understand that discrimination is discrimination and it's wrong and always will be, no matter the circumstance. Edit: It's being argued that Affirmitive action goes against discrimination laws. I'm not American so I'm not completely sure if they're talking about the constituion (bigger deal), or just regular laws.
@SmartArtzzz

I totally agree with Joe in regards to the model minority stereotype may be acting to their detriment. Most universities have a holistic assessment of general performance and they should allow those in who qualified. If it was solely a numbers game it wouldn't be as selective. While these elite universities have a diversity quota, many people play that system, so it's not as diverse as they may be pushing it to be. Honestly, if you value education where you go shouldn't matter as much as what you do with what you've learned.

In my opinion, as an Asian American, I do think that colleges such as Harvard may be top of the line education wise, but are definitely focused on the college lifestyle/culture that the students experience too. In saying this, the stereotype of Asian parents (especially those of parachute babies) are very strict and have high expectations of their children who are focused only on studying and not the community and lifestyle aspects of University. Which can also lead me to believe why they gave them lower scores in personality. It could be Harvard trying to create this image that they want.

It’s a 4% difference... There were SOOO many assumptions made after just giving those two number differences. “Oh, they’re doing it on purpose to keep Asians out.” Unless there’s some other information left out I don’t see how everyone is jumping to that conclusion immediately except just because Tiffany said that’s what they were doing.

Yeah I can't believe that happened in Japan. I thought they were such an advanced society but I guess they still have a long way to go on women's issues.

Bart pretty much said it... if it gets I guess “too diverse” it challenges the traditions of something, traditions is what makes things good, if you change traditions it’s no longer something original, and even from my experiences, if the traditions and culture changes too much, the popularity starts to drop, it starts getting further away from what it needs to be

Is it that the "brainy" Asains are shy and reserved so they stereotype the other Asains who are well rounded but also just as brainy? 😯Thats messed up!
