This music.reminds me of a brief holiday,in Connecticut before we had to leave for Europe ,I didn't know how to dance American music ,just.latin American rhythims. But to this day I will never forget a young Man of Italian descent ,who asked me to dance, I dont know his name ,but I have never forgotten him ,and I will forever thank him ,for making a little young Latin American girl ,never forget a lovely American harvest moon. If you still exist I will be 85 this year but I will never forget you .1954 Connecticut USA

No matter how much I love Emmylou - nothing goes up to Nicolette and Astrid in the background. It does not mean, that anything was wrong with this version! Nothing at all! It was beautiful!

Are you telling me that the girls in the previous videos were Astrid Young and Nicolette Larson?! I never knew that. I’ve been aware of Nicolette for a good while, but videos of her are rare, and I didn’t recognize her in other Harvest Moon performances I’ve seen. You’re right, they were superb. In addition to Astrid, she was also a pal of the greatest girl singer of all time, Linda Ronstadt.

@@Buddy308 Yes, I mean that in the 'official video' of the harvest Moon and also on the 'Unplugged' video and of course on the record, they are Nicolette and Astrid in the background. Two beautiful girls with gold in their throat....

@easyjdier Yeah, this is probably my favorite version of this song. It's a hair sharper than album so I can't play along, but that's cool (tape speed??) I do play in drop D alot. It's just a lot prettier chording. The entire footage of this show is incredible. Mucho talento on the stage that night. Shame about Ben Keith. His sound will be impossible to replace.

It sounds as though Neil's age was catching up with him here. This must be among the top 5 or 10 most beautiful ballads of all time, but his voice can no longer carry it off like it did in the official video made, I think, in the early 90s. It's been recorded by dozens of artists over the years, but the best cover I've ever seen or heard = Foxes & Fossils; I'd actually rather listen to them than to Neil, himself.
