Hey Luke, could you do a garden tour of the entire garden? We're in same growing zone and I'm wondering if my progress is similar to yours. Thanks for your expertise and desire to teach us we CAN grow food no matter out circumstances. Happy Grand Opening

Hey Luke, great video. Thanks! If you mix four parts red current juice to one part sugar it makes a nice syrup to add to club soda for a refreshing summer drink. Had a bumper crop this year so am needing to get creative.

Hi Luke. I commented back in the spring about how you had inspired me to plant a garden for the first time in years. Being 57 and suffering with chronic knee and hip issues had made it nearly impossible to do so. After watching your videos I put in three 4x8x1 beds and about a dozen containers. I live in far Southern Indiana and the heat wave/drought has really affected my area but that being said I have harvested bell peppers, jalapenos, cucumbers and today, finally, my first full-sized tomato. I also have beets and potatoes planted as well as chili peppers, pepperoncini and hot cherry peppers, and many herbs. Thank you so much for what you do and for being the inspiration that you are. Congrats to you and Mrs. MiGardener on your upcoming second child.

Black currents are great combined with apples for pie. Black current jelly is yummy, but some people find the jam too seedy.

I wanted to point out what red currant acctually taste like! So its hard to describe it if you dont know this but red jolly ranchers get their flavor from red currant and red currants taste identical to red jolly ranchers without the intense sweetness! The after taste especially tastes just like red jolly ranchers!

You can make a juice out of them and mix the juice with sprite, 7-up or ginger ale and it makes a awesome drink, my kids loved it when my mom would make it for them when we went to visit. They are high in vitamin C, an awesome fruit in any garden

Making blackcurrant jam is amazing from home grown. My wife only eats it if we make it from the allotment won't eat shop bought coz it's that much better. I don't really like raw blackcurrants but the jam is soo good 👍😊 tried to grow redcurrants but the shop mislabelled it and it was actually blackcurrant 😒 and I was looking forward to them as I haven't tried redcurrants or any others yet.

How do you deal with the restrictions on growing members of the ribes family, especially black currents in Michigan? Where do you purchase them? I’ve always wanted to grow them, but most nurseries will not ship them to Michigan. My great-grandmother grew them, but my parents destroyed them when the laws went into effect.

Where did you get the current bushes? Not big jelly or jam eaters here but I think you said the white are the sweetest? Would those be enjoyable to eat fresh? Also I am having yellowing leaves on my Honey baby butternut squash. Water problem? Not enough more likely than too much. Also you mentioned once plants eat going we don't need the nitrogen. Does fish fertilizer provide enough nutrients for the P and K the plants need? Thanks

Red currant jelly was the only jelly my Mom would use when she made a jelly roll. We did not grow them, but store bought was okay. Our, now retired custodian @ church who was from Eastern Europe, (the part of the world with all of the fighting these days...) had every color currant imaginable. This was a memory of his homeland.

Hi Luke, could you update us on your lettuce bed? How you keep it alive all season? Mine had got all leggy and some bolting. Should I have been cutting the whole thing down more regularly? Perhaps I didn’t fill the soul up high enough in the bed to start so some parts got quite leggy? Thank you for considering!

mid-Missouri Zone 6A Thanks for the video. I actually had enough black currents to pick some about a month ago. They tasted very strong, much like wild cherry. Not my favorite either. Thanks for another fun informative video. I am having real issues with my winter squash (spaghetti). First year growing a winter variety. I have loads of male flowers and the vines/plant is Massive. This heatwave is making it hard to fertilize but I was able to give it p and k in the recent “cool” window we had a week or so back. No difference yet. Is this normal? To have 20+ males and no females?

The pandemic has really made everything unbearable and things are really getting out of control. The F.E.D can't even control this particular moment, this is making the world financial state unstable.
