@@kevinmcconnell3641I don't think the age of the leadership should be the first thought, especially if the 2 options are 3 1/2 years apart. I think the first question should be WHERE they are leading: bodily autonomy, robust democracy, more economical justice, more equality, a climate that's still livable, affordable access to education and healthcare, ... Or the opposite. Here alone the choice is clear. The second question could be the QUALITY of leadership: is the leader educated in a vast variety of political matters, willing and able to dive deep into difficult and complicated subject matters, read briefs, listen to experts, surrounded by a qualified team of aids and consultants, ready and able to make an informed decision, always looking out for the best interest of the nation, looking at the big picture, ready to do the unpopular thing for the sake of long-term interest of the nation, ...? Or the opposite? After that you could ask about the character, the health, the charisma, the connections, the strength, ... of the leader and if two candidates are head-to-head on ALL of these points, then you can make their age the question.

Shame on you for minimizing the GENOCIDES of the Palestinians and people without health insurance, and people “living “ on the streets. BOTH parties bow to the wishes of the corporations and the rich. Republicans are more obvious, but Democrats play “Good Cop”, sweet-talking us, then quietly selling us out of vital necessities.. No surprise that Gallup says a MAJORITY of Americans WANT A NEW PARTY! Dems are already blackmailing us ( and pulling dirty tricks with the balloting process), “If you don’t elect this corporate candidate, you’ll get TRUMP and Project 2025! We don’t want that either, but many of us remember Obama’s wars and NDAA/“Indefinite Detention WITHOUT TRIAL “! Whether you are fooled, fooling yourself, or cynically riding the gravy train, you may LOSE to Donald Trump. If you’re SERIOUS about stopping him, you could get enough votes to stop him. You could ADD the votes of the Greens to the Blues, and cinch it. BUT Green voters and others CANNOT vote for a GENOCIDER! So, Democrats may have to add their votes to the Greens, and vote for Jill Stein for the win. Some will object, but why? You’d have someone GOOD to vote for! Or would you prefer Trump to Jill Stein, like you did to Bernie and Jill in 2016?😅

It shouldn't be like that. Other countries choose their highest court justice through non-partisan expert committees, to get politics as far away from jurisprudence as possible. Imagine a SCOTUS whose members were selected, not just for their skill, qualifications and experience, but for their political neutrality, which they have tried to demonstrate throughout their whole professional lives: they've stayed away from political student groups, never had a job working or interning for a party, a lawmaker, a governor, a mayor or in the White House, who never became a member of a society or association with party affiliations (i.e. the Federalist Society), never worked for big lobby groups or big donors, whose rulings don't show political bias, who've made it a point to stay away from party politics throughout their career, because they knew they wanted to be justices.

What you’ve said here is awesome - in all contexts of that word. Thank you. The things you spoke of should be, in truth, the rally of both parties - what’s happening within the Republican Party is heartbreaking and soul crushing. Our Founding Fathers may not have been perfect, and over the years there have been scoundrels in Congress and the White Hoise, but nothing - nothing - has been close to what’s happening today. I’m old enough that my grandmother was married with children before she had the right to vote. I saw the Civil Rights movement sweep the country; watched the protests (and shootings) over our involvement in Vietnam; saw the bra-burning marches as women demanded equal representation under the law (and equal pay); Nixon stepping down as President due to corruption; even assassination attempts on two subsequent presidents. None of that even came close to any of this mess. Even if you don’t like Biden or the Democrats’ platform, Trump and his minions HAVE to be stopped.

I will vote for Dems, but I will ride them like a bull for the next four years after to MAKE them listen to the people. If we all do that we can affect change, but if we vote and go away, then ignore them until next time they will follow their agenda, not ours. Representative democracy is hard work and not easy. You are so lucky Leigh for being able to hang out with our gang. I have been a proud Democrat since I voted for McGovern and not “tricky “ Nixon way back in 1972. The only reason I was able to vote that election was because the amendment lowered the voting age to 18. The contention was if we could die in the war, why couldn’t we have the right to vote? Under the old rule I would have been 2 months shy of my 21 st birthday in January. But I was proud that I made the correct choice because Nixon did not finish his term because of the Watergate scandal. The big surprise was it wasn’t the Democrats that approached Nixon to get him to resign. It was his own party. Yes yesterday’s GOP is nothing like today’s GOP. Law and order made a difference. Today we have our rights taken away and that will only be the tip of the iceberg if they take control. Imagine being jailed for 15 years just for protesting the war. That happened in Russia. Inflation scares you? Imagine a college educated Nurse making less than 2 dollars per hour. Then you get your low prices while the rich become oligarchs and sale their expensive yacht all around the world. That will be the new normal if tRump wins. Even if he doesn’t, be prepared for J6, 2025. He has too many sycophants that will test everything concerning our democracy.

I'm no fan of Biden. His career has been far more centrist than I would like, but I'll be voting for him again, and I bought some Dark Brandon merch from him. His presidency has been one of the most progressive presidencies we've had since FDR. I'm not Biden supporter, Bernie was my guy, but I have to give credit where credit is due. He's progressed funding for infrastructure, climate change, education, and managed to give hundreds of billions of dollars of student debt forgiveness even with a crippling house of representatives. I expected SO MUCH LESS to be honest.

Well said! I think that is the difference between the parties these days. One party is all in on everything no matter how unhinged, the other is more informed and recognizes that not everything is to their liking but that's politics. Vote for the greater good, or in this case vote to save our way of life before it's lost forever.
