I've debated getting one of these and ruled spending the money of the potential of it not functioning, but it went on clearance at my local walmart for $212. Took it out day one, no cleaning first. Fired 15 rounds, about six did not feed properly. The carrier didn't lift the next round up for the bolt to chamber the round. On at least 2 of those miss feeds the bolt release was locked up. Cleaned it about a week later lubed it, found some 1/8" sized pieces of metal and other debris throughout the reciever . Took it out again, put 10 shells through it. It didn't lock up, but the carrier didn't lift on all cycles. A little push on the carrier and the shell fed and ejected without any issue. So, a bit of a win. I think I'll put another box or two thorugh it to make sure it gets a good breakin before I dig into the trigger group. I'm sure thats where the problem is. I think that I will be happy with it, but Hatfield needs quality control. They say they have been test fired, but obviously not repetitive cycles. But, also, at least give me "proof" of test firing with an empty shell in the box. Their QC is still non existent. But also, who knows how long my particular gun sat on display at Walmart it was the last SAS20.

I just bought one the key to this gun is clean it. First go was a little hiccup after that it runs perfectly fine in actually loading from tube mag applied a little oil the tube and it’s running like a charm.

Yes I agree they are pretty filthy when they are new, I don't know what kind of oil they put on them but it's dirty as hell, and they do need a little bit of breaking in. But after a few hiccups all of mine ran fine with the exception of the 410.

I bought Mine about a year ago at the Pikeville KY. Walmart for $ 206.00 and never shot it till this morning. I wanted to 20 ga, so my Wife would shoot it because shes afraid of my 870 Wingmaster. We both shot it this Morning and we Love it, 12 rounds shot flawlessly. I was expecting some problems with it because most of the videos about it have shown a lot of failure to feed but i guess I got lucky so now when i shoot my Wife can join in instead of watching. Thanks for the video.

Rob, threw some lead with the little Hatfield SAS 20 gauge today. I ran a little over a box of ammo through it and it ran like a champ. I didn’t think I had any high brass heavy field loads, but turns out I had a box that was at least 20 years old. It ran them like a champ, throwing shells out 12-15 feet. My wife even tried it out on a few clays, and really liked shooting it. I think I’ll get her a little 28 gauge, I think she could shoulder it a little easier. I think I’ll wait to see how Hatfield treats you on the .410 before deciding on the Hatfield or another brand for her. My son-in-law had a box of 12 gauge Winchester target loads, the 1145 FPS version with the chrome on them. His month old Tristar wouldn’t cycle with those shells at all. I had a box of 12 gauge Federal 1220 FPS field loads in my ammo box and had him try them. It gobbled the Federals up.

Great to hear that Keith, overall I have to say I'm pleased with the hatfields although they've had a few little break-in issues. Until the 410 I was completely satisfied with them. But as you know the only downfall is that if you do have a problem that the gun needs to be sent back for service for is you have to pay the shipping to get the gun back to them. And of course it has a one year warranty. Other than that would I buy the other three again the 12, 20, 28 and I would have to say yes I would. I really do like the 28 gauge I do think it may be my favorite of the three. Really pleased to hear your twenties running well. Enjoy it my friend and stay safe

Just telling Thomas that if you see what Hamilton did, he tore it down and got the shell unstuck. After doing that it ran really well despite a couple of fail to eject the shell fully. If there's anymore you can shed on for Thomas, @Hamilton Outdoors, maybe he can get it running more smoothly with some touch up and inspection.

The consensus seems to be that your need to run a full box of full power, 1oz+ load through these to loosen things up. All the reviews I've seen seem to say the same thing. After 50 or so rounds they're basically trouble free.

nice video, short, sweet and succinct! too many gun vloggers make the video about themselves rather than the gun, not you, well done. as for this shotgun, is it normal to have so many hiccups? you remained calm but i would be upset. full disclosure, im not a shotgunner, i just have a couple of single shot 20ga and 410 by h&r. i can run both reliably fast as they autoeject spent rounds. the 20ga is under my bed with a recoil pad and buttstock sleeve filled with #5 gameshot, plus a 3” rossi 38sp revolver loaded with wadcutters on the nightstand. god forbid i ever have to use either one but, if i must, i won’t have to worry about penetrating walls and i won’t cry too hard if they disappear into a police evidence locker for six months. indeed i am hopelessly old school but i sleep well.
