In this video, we ride most of the hotel's very nice traction elevators, and even take a ride on the hydraulic shuttle elevator to the parking garage. Unfortunately, it looks like most KZitemrs have filmed the elevators that go up 38. For some reason, Peter did not want us riding those. I still have to ask him why, but if I ever come back here again, with or without him, I am riding those elevators. Please don't complain in the comments that we didn't ride those.
According to Peter, these elevators were put in in 1928. Wow! Usually, I not a big fan of Haughton elevators, but I just loved these things. What I think I loved more though was the beautiful architecture in this hotel. When I stepped out of those first elevators onto floors 2-3 and 5-8, I actually felt like I was being taken back in time, a very strange feeling. I don't know why, but something about that hotel makes me want to go back. The history of that hotel fascinates me, and I can can't even imagine what the hotel looked like in it's glory days before the elevators were modernized.
