Thanks so much Tim! It's good to be back! (And if you have any questions you want to throw in so I can count this as an entry, I'd love to hear them! I mean, it's good odds on free chocolate?)

Glad to hear you're doing better! We missed you. I'd be interested in how you evaluate chocolate confections. We get a bit of that whenever you review one, but an actual guide would be a lot more insight-sharing-y.

Aw thanks! And it's good to be back! Oooh, I'm going to have to think on that because it's a whole lot going on in my head at once. Like I might literally have to sit there and film my walking through my entire thought process, since it actually starts at seeing the box itself. That could be fun though!

Yay! Thanks! And I'm working on a baking chocolate video actually! The one planned is more a test of like my actual favorites, because it me, but I'm game for doing a face-off with the 'winner' of that video too and showing more price points! (The baking video pile plan is actually kind of massive, it's awesome.)

@@DessertGeek lol yes I definitely understand I kept telling myself well shipping is included lol! I got the small birthday variety set , then the second time I went for the large birthday only set and blondie trims were available so I tried those! And the trims were birthday and pecan/salted caramel.

Congratulations on the 1k subs, Jess! So sorry to hear about your insomnia -- I'm sending you so many well wishes! I hope you're able to rest up and to take care of yourself. And thank you so much for this giveaway! ❤I don't have any recommendations, but I'd be interested in any flavoured chocolates (I saw a chili dark chocolate bar when I was at a Lindt store among other flavours, which sparked my curiosity). Thank you for making great content! 😊

Thank you so much! And I'm working on it! (Like there won't be a video this week, but I've got a livestream planned hopefully for next week! I'll be posting some info in the morning!) And ooh yes, I love flavored bars too, I just never know how to sort them because there are so many good ones! And if you haven't seen it there's a video waaaay back in the archives of Barbie Van Horn and me tasting unusual bars like Fossa's shrimp and bonito bar! (I prefer Fossa's lychee rose, it's so pretty, like eating rose milk tea. And just as importantly, not shrimp.) I'm actually not huge into spicy chocolate actually somehow, but now you've got me thinking!

Thanks! It's good to be back! And yeah it's just been weird, but I'd rather talk about it since I don't feel like folks talk all that much about dealing with chronic insomnia. (And just in case, if you want to enter the giveaway, throw me a question for the channel when you can? While you're being awesome this doesn't count as an entry and I just wanted to make sure you got a chance at the chocolate.)

@@DessertGeek It is good that you are discussing insomnia as it always helps others feel less alone in their struggles w it too. I’ve purchased on Bar & Cocoa before and I love the website. Now that it’s hot in Texas I’ve stopped ordering for the summer because of the temperatures but will resume in the fall. When I last purchased on Bar & Cocoa I bought many of the international chocolate gold award 🥇 winning chocolates and would ask if you have had any of those? I liked the Fjak brand.

I hope you're staying cool down south as best as possible! And yes, I've had a bunch of them, it's hard to pick a favorite! (Actually in full disclosure I know some of the judges.) I also love Fjak, I'm kind of surprised they haven't been reviewed on the channel yet and it's time to fix that! I mean their brunost bar is so awesome.

Glad to see you back! I’ve been thinking of your channel every time I go to Fortunato Chocolate in Issaquah. I was wondering if you tried them and what you’d think about their bars! They have a pretty cool story and work with a specific farm but I don’t know enough about chocolate to compare to others.

Oh wow, that's so kind of you to say! Thank you! And being honest I haven't had Fortunato's work in quite some time, so I'll have to add them to the review list! (I'm absolutely game for doing a review, just it might not happen for some time.)

That's a great question! Sadly I won't ever cover any coffee based anything on the channel as I'm actually unable to drink coffee, even mochas. (Fear not, I have plenty of tea.) That being said I know that Victoria Cooksey loves coffee and she's also an awesome chocolate expert, so I'd see if she's covered them?

Are there any chocolates that you would consider "healthy" (in that they have lots of nutrients not found in your normal bar)?
@DessertGeek
Жыл бұрын
Ooh, that's fun! Honestly any bog standard 70%+ bean to bar chocolate bar, particularly if it's a two ingredient, is going to be in that 'superfood' territory anyway because cacao nibs are just really that dang high in antioxidants. So like Soma's Abstract Chocolate Science, which is a 75% with nibs, would count as 'extra healthy.' That being said I remember that Markham & Fitz has a 'brain food' 85% with blueberries + other fun things, which would be super nutrient happy, but I haven't had that bar in forever so I can't tell you what it tastes like nowadays.

Oooh which ones are you thinking of? There aren't a lot of bacon bars on the market I can have (like Zotter's has hazelnut praline why), and I can't eat the Fossa salted duck egg bar though it sounds cool.

Hi! I'll admit I'm fairly new to your channel, having only watched one video before, but I'm all nice and subscribed now! So I was thinking, as a newby, what question can I ask that won't make me sound like a newby? lol Then I thought of something I like that's fairly specific, so I don't know if you've covered it yet. Something I like is chocolate-covered fruit: cherries, strawberries, raspberries, oranges, whatever I can find. In liquid if I can also find it, but dried seems to be more common. If you haven't already, would you maybe consider doing a video finding the best brands of those? Thanks!
@DessertGeek
Жыл бұрын
Oh hey Fraggle! It's nice to see you on here! And thanks! So I can work on this, it sounds way fun, it'll take a bit though because I'm overdue on reevaluating the current state of inclusion bars. That is, there aren't a whole lot of bean to bar chocolate covered stuff makers (Soma's my favorite for chocolate covered cherries, and Intrigue does fun stuff from time to time), but there are a *ton* of folks who add dried fruit to their bars - like off the top of my head there's Creo, Foxglove, and Wildwood just for big honkin' strawberry inclusions. Oh darn, I'll just have to try them and see what I can find for making a proper video!
