No matter what we think about the "just stop oil" group, I find it nice to see two elderly people who actually care about the future that they won't be around to see. Here in the U.S., the government predominantly seems to have a kick the can down the road approach to the climate. It's usually elderly white men in our Congress, who are more concerned about increasing their bank accounts than saving the planet.

I love how angry they make the virtue signalling hypocrites who pretend they're deeply concerned about climate change while refusing to lift a single finger to address their personal complicity in it. I'm a catering chef of decades, the real reason for the M&M's is that if the caterer misses something on the rider they can claim you in violation of the contract and then don't have to pay. A lot of bands or their managers do stuff like that to try and get out of paying. Aerosmith did M&M's as well, but blue.
@sfdntk
2 ай бұрын
No court on the planet would let you void an entire contract on that basis, much less allow you to not pay what you owe, and every contract on the planet includes a clause that says if one part of the contract is found to be in breach, the rest of the contract remains in force. The actual reason for the M&Ms is that the band had complex staging requirements, and there were serious safety concerns if any of their instructions weren't followed to the letter. If they arrived backstage to find brown M&Ms in their bowl then they knew the contract either hadn't been read properly or hadn't been followed correctly, and therefore they needed to do a thorough inspection of absolutely everything else.

As far south as the Isle of Wight? The auroras were seen as far south as the Canaries, the Yucatan, Hawaii, and India. The ring of aurora passed right over Northern England, and it was over 100 miles high, likely a lot more. The Isle of Wight surely had a great show! The light pollution in the UK is terrible though, and it would have been difficult to see with your eyes, even in the countryside, though a lot of Brits have posted a lot of amazing photos! (A good camera can cut through a lot of light pollution.) It passed right over my home here in Minnesota too, and I've never seen anything like it, though I had to drive 40 miles away from the Cities to watch the display. It was so worth it!

Both Minnesota and the UK were directly under the auroral ring. Of course it was visible in all parts of the UK, except in areas of the most severe light pollution. What's more meaningful and quite surprising (IMO the real story) is how far south they were visible, not just how far south in the country that was directly below their origin. Gran Canaria is at a latitude of 28 degrees north. The Isle of Wight is over 50 degrees north. Where's the real story?

15:11 - I expected a cut to the fly pestering Donald Trump giving a speech. (But that footage isn't included even in this longer, "More News For You" version.) Trump then announced that he did not know they had flies in the U.S. State where he was orating. It must've come as a shock to everyone to learn that all 50 States (and every U.S. territory that isn't a State) has flies. Then Trump said that fly-paper was illegal in the U.S.A. because of animal cruelty. I thought that such a statement would end his career, so to celebrate I went out and bought illegal fly-paper. This was in the municipality where I reside, in the U.S.A., a country where fly-paper is illegal. I found the illegal fly-paper in a big well-lit supermarket type of store, in an aisle full of insecticides and other things, under a sign that said "Fly-Paper". An anti-shoplifting camera filmed me taking it off the shelf, and after I left the store I reviewed my cash-register receipt, and it listed a box of fly-paper and the price. So, I left a really bad trail of evidence, more than enough to convict me for possession of illegal flypaper. I'm due to be arrested at any time, and all for nothing. I was so stu'pid. Nobody who ever voted for Trump will decide NOT to vote for him just because Trump believes that there are States where flies don't exist, and that flypaper is illegal.

Hey buddy, sorry to be the one to break it to you, but you did just watch the extended version 😉 D'you know, here in Aus, I don't think I've ever seen flypaper? I reckon I've only seen it in cartoons - you know Tom and Jerry type shenanigans. But I've never really gone looking either. Of course, we have so many flies here that we developed our own way of dealing with them. The iconic bushman's or swagman's hat with the dangling corks isn't just a novelty item, it's a real necessity in the outback.

@@vincentlevarrick6557 How does the cork thing work? Anyway, I had copied a Comment that I posted on the Not A Bit More version and pasted it on this version, changing only the time-stamp. I've edited my comment to reflect that I was disappointed not to see Trump saying "I didn't know you had flies in Iowa" in this longer version either. I mean, you might not know Iowa. Major agriculture state, big state in pork and beef. And to move beef around (which it's still alive) a lot of people will use a horse. So, yeah, pigs, cows and horses, it came as a big surprise to Trump that Iowa has flies.

Stay strong! ✊️ If you behaved normally in a shop and bought a loaf of bread with your I.D, ,that might save you. Trump's court cases clogging up the legal system may give you extra time before the law catches up with you. I also live in Australia, and people typically don't wear corks on hats, unless for an Australiana 'fancy dress', or children in school plays. The corks swing around on the strings and serve to shoe the flies away from the hat wearer's face, so a person can get busy with their hands doing other things instead of brushing away flies. It probably depends where a person lives in Australia, but fly paper is definitely still available in hardware shops and supermarkets. I just looked it up. 🙃 To be fair, Trump is mostly only outside at golf courses, where the bio-systems that include flies would be minimal, and he has dementia. Flies don't feature in Trump's greatest hits. Let's face it, flies aren't birds killed by windmills, whales killed by wind, or whales in 'a-brain' test. Although, Trump probably wanted to smack those suprise Iowa flies 'like a dog'.

One for broadcast, where timelines are tight down to the second, and one for streaming, where shows can run as long as they like.

The shorter version is shown Friday night just after the watershed. The longer version is shown on the weekend.

I make an effort to dislike politicians on principle, but Jess does make it a bit difficult. Just goes to show that coming across like a normal human being goes very far…

25:47 - How did Paul Merton guess that that image depicted the Trump trial? It's an odd twist, but outside the courthouse the other day a panhandler who identified himself as a courtroom artist asked me for a dollar. I said I didn't have a dollar, but I could give him a dozen new orange crayons that happened to be in my pocket. He took them and thanked me and said "Now I don't need a dollar!".

As Paul Merton said a couple of weeks ago, if Trump is put in an orange jump suit, he would disappear.
