Hats off to the managers for at least trying to do the right thing. What's really needed, however, is a new mindset within companies that bases the availability of the privilege on the nature of the work rather on some out-moded, arbitrary tradition. Worker need to unite to make it standard that work that can be done at home is automatically structured that way. Varying from this policy should require an objective reason. (Note: I'm a retired carpenter for whom working from home would never be an option. But lots of office work can be and should be.)

Some employees are responsible enough to work independently without supervision, some aren’t.

Way to snitch on those managers.

Not all employees have the same output, or the same motivations. The Paredo distribution curve is real. This is a "lowest common denominator" mindset and companies that think this way end up with bottom-of-the-barrel type of workers.

This probably won't last at a company like Dell if they have an actual RTO mandate. Badge swipes will start being tracked

There is never equal treatment. Favoritism, cronyism, and nepotism have existed forever and now there's a layer of DEI over a all of it.
