It may look a bit dorky today, but jn the old days, a Neckerchief Was worn daily, whether in the woods or city. It served the purpose of your net scarf, plus as many others as your lmagination can come up with. Bandage, hat, signal flag, sling or what all. It's a shame that style has removed it from the Scout uniform, and from Woodsmen in general. Out of the way, but available.

" I thought it was something you carry for black powder arms" A haversack is a carryall for your personal gear. A shooting bag is for carrying items to make your muzzleloader go boom. Haversacks were used before knapsacks or backpacks were commonly used, and for sometime into the era of backpacks. It's really not a good idea to mix contents of the two because if you're reaching into your shooting bag to reload your one-shooter for that bear that's sizing you up, you don't want to grab a piece of camp gear instead of the components for reloading your firearm.

Dave.... you probably wont read this, but im gonna type it out anyways. Love your vids, been following for a while, one youtube name or another... but look brother... you need to make a series, like the colony was. Do you remember that show ? a bunch of people with nothing, put into an environment where there was nothing, and they had to survive. your vids are great, and teaching people, to set them selves up for success to survive is great. but, in a " wtf shtf " situation, a person may not have what they need to stay alive. so, thats what you need to make a series of vids on... lets say, youre allowed 2 things. something that a person could just grab and go, or something that a person would have on them. for me, i always have my knife, and my paracord bracelet on me at all times. the only time i dont is when im showering. at night the bracelet and knife is next to my bed. my bracelet has 9 feet of paracord, and a ferro rod / striker. so take 2 things, and go somewhere remote. somewhere that you dont know like the back of your hand.. no people around, no nothing, just in the middle of the woods, the clothes on your back, and 2 things, and of course your camera... and for 1 week, make how to survive vids. im not dissing your vids or knowledge here brother, but everyone has the normal generic survival vids... survival is a word that is passed around so much these days. most " survival " vids arent survival... their camping vids... i really hope you consider this idea. this is what people need. camping vids, to stay true to nature, with flint locks and all that is great. but what does a person do, when they are put into a surrounding with nothing... thats survival. thats what people need to know.
@JeremyHopper007

Two things... A full tang, non-coated carbon steel knife and a stainless steel water bottle. The knife will process game animals, build shelters, process wood for fire lays, build a fire hand drill set or struck with a piece of flint or quartz to produce a spark for a fire. The water bottle can be used for collecting, boiling, storing and making char material for the next fire.

I believe he sells the seperate elements of it in the store, but you'll need to get your own bag and assemble the kit yourself. Listen to this guy! No matter how prepared your pack is, have a knife and fire maker attached to your body as well. You might get swept in the water, critters may get into, or off with your pack without waking you.. you never know. also, dental floss makes very very compact cordage if you take it out of the dispenser, and can be used for fish line or sewing, as well as lashing.

I was curious but didn't want to ask about the haversack. I thought it was something you carry for black powder arms. the use would be for shot and patches or ammo. I also thought since you have your pack with the 5 c's and some redundant things on your person ,one would, While hiking you come across some elements for birds nest; tinder or things for the soup pot that you would squirrel them away in the haversack as you march on ( pretty bad I had to look up how you spell squirrel) Dave do you have a dedicated squirrel pouch or another haversack? pocket. You are pretty organized so I thought i'd just ask this time.
