Started at Haverthwaite Railway Station. Along the old road through Backbarrow. Past the deserted village. On the River Kent there is a hydroelectric power plant. At the Dolly Blue factory we turned left up Finsthwaite Lane. A quick puncture stop, not compulsory, then on to the B Road to Newby Bridge, passing under then over the railway. At the Swan Inn the new path begins. A nice surface, but lots of gates. Bridges are made from recycled plastic, but very sturdy. Following the railway yet again until it ends at Lakeside. The path continues with a lot more contours, but never too steep. A bit confusing at the bobbin mill where the forest is closed, but keep going. A short section on roads again. Keep an eye out for the path going off to the right. Several more gates and bridges. The path finishes at the YMCA. Some sections of gravel were already washing away only months after completion. We were back on the road and headed for Hawkshead. Part 2 of the video is a return vi the Grizedale Forest, east side of the valley.
