Though I'm sad at seeing so few instances of the Ha'a Koa being performed, I gotta admit that the haka dance is pretty impressive, and if they performed this in front of me I would run away crying.

I saw one preformed at a luau a few hours ago by only three people, and I can tell you it’s extremely intimidating, especially because of the tone shift. Video really doesn’t show you how loud it is. Scary stuff.

I'm a Samoan Kiwi, born and bred in NZ but now living in Australia. The Haka is a Maori tradition, but we in Samoa have our own and it's not called a Haka. Just like all other Polynesians, they all have a similar war cry. The Haka in sports is an All Black thing. So there is no disrespect for the Haka because the New Zealand All Blacks were the first to ever have such a war cry before every game. But it's not a Maori thing only. The Hawaii Warriors are not exploiting or stealing the Haka, they are expressing themselves in a war cry like my Manu Samoa Rugby team do when they perform the Manu (our own traditional war cry) If it hadn't have been for the all conquering All Blacks rugby team, there would never have been a haka in the sporting arena. The All Blacks now have their own personal Haka, the Kapa O Pango. Leave these poly boys to do what is tradition in all Pacifica. Thanks to the All Blacks, they have made the Haka acceptable in the sporting world and admired globally and allowed us as Polynesians know that we too an express ourselves through our own War Cry.

100% uso!! But i think this is makaga (embarrassing ) tbh. And this is why . Maori , Samoan , Islanders all relate to their own traditions, rituals , war crys etc... They identify with their traditions through 100s -1000s years of ancestry , its embedded in each cultures dna . Heres the difference , im willing to bet not many of these kids actually know what it means , probably don't have the depth of knowledge or teachings to comprehend what a haka is , and what it means to its people. But it aint their fault also , because its not culturally in their blood . How many do you think do kapahaka , how many do you think speak maori when they get home , it aint their traditions so its nothing more to them than a fancy, threatining Braveheart speech before battle. THATS WHY THIS IS SAD .Probably dont even know that the simplest of actions (the tounge poke ) was a threat to enemy reenacting how they would look when they were dead... I think its wrong uso . Identify and perform your own history. If i saw tomorrow for an example , an asian footy team performing Samoas siva tau then id be 100% in disagreement.

Dont get me wrong I felt the MANA. But Hawaii has there own traditional war dance. when we perform the haka in NZ its because we wear our pride on our shoulders and represent our maori heritage. Hawaiians also have an awesome traditional haka or Ha'a Koa. A big part of the haka is that we get to Represent our Maori heritage. I think it would be awesome if you guys did a traditional Hawaiian Ha'a Koa.

fobfury yes. They must be ashamed of their hula or thought that it looked cool when the all blacks do it and copied it with complete disregard of cultural meaning. Eitherway its a strong indication that their own culture must be getting weaker and weaker. They are all too stupid to realise that hawaii and new zealand, though both polynesian are thousands and thousands of kilometres away from each other and have completley different cultures and customs. They do share similarities but its like comparing incas to cherokee or spanish to russians...

@@lostdracco6744 IKR? There's like very little numbers of Native Hawaiians living in NZ compared to us Samoans and Tongans and even still, when Tonga and Samoa play for their own team, the players never do the Haka. This entitled mentality of these US Polys have or their "Hawaii and NZ are both polys and therefore the same" or "the haka brings people together" statements are just lame ass excuses so they can do the Haka to make them look cool or portray the tropical, long haired, heavy tatted, lavalava wearing warrior when the Maori aren't even that at all. The Hawaiians are as about the same as the NZ Maoris as every other Poly. I don't know why they want to add some mysticism or secret close connection link when they are no different from the next Poly. Heck the Cook Islands Maori, and the Tahitians have much more closer connections than the Hawaiians.
