this is actually inspired by real facts from the Lafayette Escadrille, "a U.S. unit constituted in 1916 under French command, made up of volunteers who came forward to fight for France during World War I" (the lion cub name was indeed Whiskey) The first American pilot to die in the war was part of that unit (Victor Chapman). en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lafayette_Escadrille

Its weird that his name is Henry Jones, but its also Henry Dufonce/Dufance or how ever you spell the name. Is that just his name he chose to get into a French speaking army, so no one would suspect he's an American?

Yes he chose it because it was written on a signboard in the billetting office in London.

He was in a French officer’s uniform in ‘Trenches of Hell’, set in 1916 when Indy was still a corporal.

rarevideosandfilms He posed as a captain with a different name. He gets recognized by his real name. The officer doesn’t take notice at all. These things only happen in movies don’t you think? Still a fun movie with well known names.

7:15....Obviously a Tv series, shot in ex Yugoslavia as well (....among other places - Most likely in the northern part of the country, in where everything was still quiet, since that was the period, where in the central part, all hell broke lose, already)! These cannons, are clearly Ex Yugoslav army, pieces!

Not a movie series. It started as television series beginning with Indy as a child. Although it had good ratings, it was expensive to produce and therefore cancelled. The unaired episodes were edited in pairs into 90 minute tv films. The "attack of the hawkmen" takes place in early 1917, after "Oganga" and before "the service".

It has as much to do with the polls. The American public was never in favor of going to war to protect British and French colonialism. Even after the sinking of the Lusitania in 1915 and the unrestricted attacks on shipping in 1917 the American Public only half-heartedly supported war against Germany and Austria-Hungary. Wilson and Congress putting America in the war pretty much ended his political career and he knew it, but it had to be done.

@@carlbirtles4518 First, the Mexicans declined. Second, we were in a perfect situation to prevent a Mexican assault had they dared, third, the Zimmerman telegram came after we were arming the UK & Fr to the teeth. And let's not forget, we declared war two years after the Lusitania which was transporting munitions.

LOL, wilson tried everything he could to avoid getting into ww1. But when he did get in few leaders before or since could match his war-making skills and resolve. Logistically, ww1 was even more impressive in some ways than was ww2. Of the 8.5 million dead in ww1, only about 50k were American, yet americans turned the tide in the allies favor. for a peacemaker, wilson has few warrior peers.

The US Army took a year to get ready for WW1 because they had no experience in modern warfare.
