I used to watch hawkwind with my eyes shut part of the time....some of their lightning effects were painful and turned ya brain to mush after a bunch of mushrooms or acid....I could still see em with me eyes shut..... nice and loud as well....

@@volpeverde6441 They were and still are! dependent on their subject material, the best way of getting high in your mind, even without shooms or lysergics. Yes closing the eyes is probably the best way to travel on the Right Stuff😊😁✨️✨️✨️✨️

Its funny to see Huws guitar with the string in a loop on the tuning keys , i do that as well and have since i started learning guitar there are others that too , some just cut the lose ends off , ithink it gives the guitar a little class, love it and huw s guitar playing is frick n awesome no one in Hawkwind has come close to how he played in the band except for Dave Brock pulls off some amazing guitar progressions awesome to see and here this band play live there is nothing all s on this earth that can match them in there style of sound and imaginative songs that go way beyond earth and the entire universe we here u Huw keep on playing in Heaven your the best :-) RIP

Me too. I saw it on ECT, Channel4 (I think). I recorded it on our communal student video in Clays Lane East London in about April 1985. I was the only hawkfan there. I then saw then twice on the Black Sword tour. Wathamstow & Hammersmith Odeon.

Well, we know where Dave Wyndorf got his look from. God I wish there was footage of Bob Calvert singing this - but I don't think he ever actually performed it with HW - except that very last gig he guested on in 1984. Why the hell did nobody film that?

This was not the 1985 tour . 1985 was the Live Chronicle tour which this number was not played on also they dressed in a very distinct way as the 85 tour was all about Michael Morcocks Elric

Yes that makes sense so I looked into it . This was 1982 tour . No idea why I bothered to look this up , maybe because 1985 was the first time I saw Hawkwind with my older brother . I had no Idea what I was letting myself into as I had just started college

they should release a bunch of LIVE ALBUMS from LEVITATION (ginger baker), SONIC ATTACK, CHOOSE YOUR MASQUES, CHRONICLE OF THE BLACK SWORD, SPACE BANDITS, ELECTRIC TEPEE, ALIEN4....tours.... my favourite (later) era.... best guitarist they ever had....

I liked this line up, and this era of the band. I saw them in 86 in a small club in Reading and they were fantastic. I wasn't aware of this drummer though. He couldn't have been there long. They were quite lucky with drummers in the 80's and beyond; from Ginger Baker to Monsieur Chadwick. I liked Simon King as a 'character' but man, he was sloppy at times.

This is Clive Deamer on drums. Can't agree with you about Simon King though - I love his organic 1970s drumming. And who cares if it didn't fit in with the coming 'click track'/'processed drums' days of the 1980s? 8-)

I thought ECT? Yeah I'll have some of that cos it's bound to be the right stuff, then I remembered I had ECT and all I got was a smashed memory, but it's all coming back to me now. I thought I was a bricklayer once but I just got plastered.

Would have loved 'Ejection' on end of this set. Just not enough decent full gig footage around from '77 onwards when you were given a full spaced out trip. No one around like this for stage show effects or lighting.

More than one! Deamer is superb, but so was Danny Thompson Junior and original, Terry Ollis. Richard Chadwick has been in the drummer's chair now for 30 years and has never missed a beat. To me, he will always be number one.

Do you mean Danny Thompson Junior? The man who drummed on the famed Chronicles tour? The man that Dr. Harvey Bainbridge himself described as the "Professor of Skullpounding"? He was great, man! His replacement, Richard Chadwick, was even better and has been a constant in the drummer's chair for thirty years...
