Love Arthur love this line up and performance, saw em at Liverpool empire maybe. 79-80 frickin unbelievable concert, went with some top mates from Runcorn, proper stoned, squidgy black, first ten minutes just the amp lights visible , then two banks of multi coloured rectangular lights started playing games with the head, i have to start laughing every time I replay it in my mind, thanks hawks , fantastic futuristic original quality underated band. Big up respek hoghead 04-20

I can remember seeing them on the Levitation tour in 80 or 81 when their drummer was, quite bizarrely, Ginger Baker. He walked on wearing white top hat & tails. As you’d expect, he was an incredible drummer. The entire gig for me was only slightly impaired by the guy standing behind me. Obviously a Simon King fan, he spent much of the gig roaring, ‘Fuck Off Ginger’, his efforts rather ruined by the fact that his one voice was completely drowned out by the avalanche of sound coming from the stage. I seem to remember that not too long after, when Baker had got bored/been fired/walked away (take your pick) he toured Italy with a band calling himself ‘Hawkwind’ which caused some confusion and Brock probably reaching for his lawyer. Happy daze…..

@spunkfish I am the master of the universe solo on Chronicles of the black sword. But I have to say if push came to shove it would be his stuff on the xenon codex. Langton on slide. The production and Davey's bass just blew my mind in 88 when I heard it.
