Very tight cadence there. Loved the Latin break going on. Those drum slings are old school. Loved it.

Hawthorne Cabs Alumni what a tremendous sound. Now PLEASE PLEASE KEEP THAT DRUM CADENCE. There are a lot of super alumni corps out there Hawthorne is always the Number One Corps. That drum line and that Drum Cadence is really SOLID Please keep that Street Beat Cadence. It speaks volumes on marching. Its a good cadence and it always has it. Who ever wrote that drum cadence should be honored for it.

Thanks for the compliment! That Cadence/Street Beat was adapted from the drum parts for "Cachita," a Caballero favorite from the 1960's. (In fact, that's the song being played at the start of this clip as the corps approaches.) Les Parks wrote the original drum parts, and we began to use it as our Street Beat in 1967. It has undergone some minor changes since then, most notably the "rhythm break" that features the Latin section. The Caballeros Alumni has been using it since we were formed in 1994, and have no plans to change it! -- John Smith, Hawthorne Caballeros Drum Instructor/Arranger

Northwest of Paramus and adjacent to Ridgewood - lived there in the 90’s - quiet little town.
