This was a popular scenic railway that ran from Havant to Hayling island from 1865 to 1963. The bridge which crossed Langstone harbour needed to be completely replaced, With huge costs on a tight budget this wasnt variable and primarily the main reason for its closure. Today their is still some evidence of its bygone days and the old line is a popular footpath and nature reserve called the Billy Trail. The old railway continues to live on with walkers, cyclists and fond memories .
A Big thanks to Adam Snowdon Archives.
