Haymarket Bus Station is the oldest location for a regular bus terminus in Newcastle. It was a large open area where cattle and horse fodder was sold, but with the establishment of horse bus routes then later motor buses, this area was used as a hub for local services.
As a bus station, Haymarket has been remodeled at least three times. The latest was created by Marks and Spencer. The glazed roof was replaced after a number of near misses when panes fell out of the wrought iron roof struts.
Buses reverse off their stands and perform an alarming U-turn to join Percy Street. Most services travel north and east from here.
To avoid You Tube copyright problems I have composed a music track called "Revolvo" to accompany this short film.
