What other engine than GXV160 I can put to my 2016 HRD536 QX as a replacement to my broken gxv160? Can’t seem to find any used gxv one in my location.

Great video greg. Jay really does know his stuff! I get his point about the amount of plastic they use on the hayter does make it feela bit cheap. One of the little plastic butts either end of the bumper has disappeared on mine and also the green button that engages the blade has gone! Luckily it still engages totally fine, i panicked when i noticed it had gone though! Overall i just feel the hayer is so much easier to handle on small lawns that the honda but maybe it is just because i am used to them having handled them for over 10 years. Both mowers are great but for me i prefer hayter.
@GregsMowing

Thanks Carl. BBC buttons on both mowers are plastic. I have heard of Hayter ones going flying before and those bumper ends. Not sure why there are bits on the end of the bumper to start with. A welded plate on the end would be sufficient. Thanks for watching.

My neighbour is looking at buying either of these mowers secondhand off eBay, question is, which one to go for secondhand?
@GregsMowing

Second hand hayter all the way. Easily repairable if needed. Dealers usually have all parts needed. Honda pro rollers usually have worn out drives and cost £500+ to repair. Yet to see the new 56 pro on eBay round me. Hayter all day

Hello I've just bought a second hand hrd 536 and when on a level surface it is rocking. It appears the front wheels are out of level to the rear roller. I cant see any adjustment. Have you seen this issue before?

Hi. Jay recons a key is missing out of the rear roller. Might be worth taking to a dealer if you’re not sure. Thanks for watching.

I’d prefer a plastic chain cover as opposed to metal if it’s to scrape on block or paving... and with the issue of grounding out isn’t it elevated by the roller track being wider than the front

Good content, full of information. At the end of the day Hayter can never have the same high spec as Honda because Honda is a huge company with manufacturing plants world wide, engine making plants in Thailand etc. Hayter uk based with our high costs. All down to commercial pressures at the end of the day.
@GregsMowing

Cheers Jason. With Hayter being part of the Toro company they have facilities all over Europe for plastic and things so I think now the quality of equal. The plastics used before were from outsourced companies that weren’t the best. But yes a mower company taking on an automotive juggernaut is no easy task. Depends how much cash each company is willing to invest.

I always said I was hayter all the way BUT the new 56 PRO , is definitely not fit for purpose , mines been in the workshop 3 times in 15 months , it still won’t pick up wet grass , due to a gathering of grass on the bars in front of the roller and then filling the gap where all the gubbins are , drives me mad , will definitely not be buying another one , next will be a law flight or stihl or Honda

Sorry Greg butHonda all the way for me, the Hrh not the Hrd tho. The old 56 was well made, the new Hayter is a big plastic lump. Poorly made the looks of it. Definitely a budget item. Does it have plastic wheels as well?
@GregsMowing

Poorly made Hayter? Don’t think so. Yep plastic wheels. I think it’s only Honda and lawnflite with metal wheels.
@bumpkinrocks

Yes I think your friend points out alot of bad points for the Hayter. Briggs Intek, covered in plastic and nothing like a good old quantum. Plastic levers and silly blade brake engagement. General transmission gearbox. The list is far to long in my opinion. I honestly see no good points, sorry.
@bumpkinrocks

2 of my Hrh's are K1's, which are dated 1999 I think. Your friends Hrd is probably K4 and apart from a few engine bits everything would swap between them. There's a good reason for that. Reliability! The old 56's are popular for a reason. Each to there own, keep up the good work😉

I don't like Hondas. They are simply too long. Hayters need more chrome for absolute perfection imo.

I brought a hayter last year brand new which lasted three months before the handlebars broke at the join and had to be welded, Then the drive cable broke and I had enough. I have an old hayter with wide chute and battery start that I brought off a customer that is 40 yrs old and it’s built like a tank and still going , not like the new cheap plastic hayter of today. I’m not impressed with hayter at all
@GregsMowing
Жыл бұрын
You must have been heavy handed to brake the handlebars. I’ve never done that. And they are the same handlebar from back then to now…. Cable will be in warranty. Old ones are. Nice but for me current ones are as good in performance and have better features and easier drive maintenance.
