I knew nothing about Hazbin before watching the amazon premier. It's fun, it's crude, it's irreverent but it weirdly has a ton of heart in its characters and the central message is actually pretty wholesome. The main character is such a ball of sunshine, she reminds me a bit of Luffy from the recent One Piece adaptation. Plus the musics great. It's not going to be for everyone, but it feels like it wasn't trying to be. People clearly had a vision for what they wanted and they made it without worrying about it having mass market appeal. I only wish it could have been longer, I miss 20 episode seasons..

Though the origins of the game are unknown, a variant is mentioned in a book of children's games assembled by Alice Gomme in 1894 called Birds, Beasts, and Fishes.[1] This version lacks the image of a hanged man, instead relying on keeping score as to the number of attempts it took each player to fill in the blanks. A version which incorporated hanging imagery was described in a 1902 article in The Philadelphia Inquirer, which stated that it was popular at "White Cap" parties hosted by Vigilance Committees where guests would wear "white peaked caps with masks".[2]

It's almost like the official trailer for Ghostbusters was about just this movie while the international trailer is about the franchise. Buying up all the paranormal things and studying ghosts is how you build a world that can tell a continuing story. They already did it in the series. It's strange that it's taken this long for them to expand out from just one ghost that appears then nothing for a decade or two. I'm excited for this and the future.

Dev Patel, like John Cusack, is a secret badass. John has a 6th degree black belt in kickboxing. Dev has a regular black belt in Taekwondo but he also competed when he was a teen and won a bronze at the 2004 Martial Arts World Championships so he's legit. Apparently he's wanted action roles for years but nobody thought that the Slumdog Millionaire would make a convincing action lead. Because Ted "Theodore" Logan was an obvious choice to play Neo. So when they wouldn't cast him he built up enough clout to make his own movie. Thank goodness for Jordan Peele. This nearly went to Netflix where it would've disappeared into the ether. Jordan saw it and decided it needed a theatrical release. If there's any justice this will start a new era for Dev Patel as both an action star and a director. Not necessarily at the same time but you never know.

We should have focused just like the books on the children's training in some kind of flashback sequence. The struggle they had with training the struggle from training to augmentation where almost all children died or were crippled and then the few who accomplished it into spartanship. It would make a more emotionally story telling story.
