Lol im a former commerical pilot, the best part of being a pilot is that you get to see different places also landing in different airports, different climatic conditions, also saying this what makes us feel more happy is that we reach the passengers safely to their destination

Kirk B Hey Kirk B. If your a former pilot. I'd like to talk to you about aviation stuff. I love to fly, but I can't be a pilot due to an illness I have. Though I love to fly in Flight Simulator X, and would love to talk to you about how the real world pilots do it. from cold and dark to flight planning and landings. Thanks and I hope to hear from you soon!

I also have a terrible fear of flying so much that the last time I flew (to Lanzarote) I had 4 pints and 4 large glasses of wine to calm me down which is not good for anyone and it spoils the flight (I am very friendly when I have had a few) and I wish I could just enjoy it as it spoils the start to any holiday. I won`t fly anymore which is a shame and it really upsets me.

I hope it gets better for you in time.... i myself share the same fear.... i recently came back from an overseas vacation i must say this time round was abit better then past flights iv been on.... im going to go on more overseas trips because im guessing the only way to overcome it is to be a regular flyer... so heres hoping

Correct! Each brake pedal (toe pedal) is independant to each side of the aircraft. So the left pedal activates the left brakes and vice versa and both captain and First Officer have the same controls. Differential braking is only used for slowing down, however for tail dragger aircraft like the DC-3 Dakota, it is used for steering and slowing down. Auto braking is done electrically and transmits signals to the brakes as apposed to manually using the pedals.

Aircraft rudder pedals often have multiple service activations fitted to them. Usually at the the top of of each rudder pedal, there is whats called a Toe Pedal and it is these that directly operate the brakes. There is another way of brake operation which is automated so that when the throttles are closed on landing, the brakes operate automatically according to the selected braking strength made by a small rotating switch on the instrument panel.

@JERRYinCHS
11 жыл бұрын
That's the speed brake (AKA spoilers). The captain arms them during the before landing check. He does so by pulling the handle up and out of the detent. At touchdown (wheel spin-up or squat switch compression depending on the aircraft) they deploy. In most airlines "speed brakes up(or deployed)" is a required call out by the pilot not flying. You'll hear the call out on many KZitem videos.

Think the FO is missing a stripe. Unless it's a training flight. F/O's normally have 3 stripes not 2
@kwehbe
8 жыл бұрын
F/Os can start with 1 Stripe as a cadet trainee or during line training. Once cleared on the line they can have 2 stripes. After collecting some hours (based on company rules mainly 3000hour) then you are entitled for 3 stripes as a senior first officer. Most airlines in North America will start you with 3 stripes.
