Sorry, but Yagudin has no personality.

lol Thats the first I've heard that. Back in the day, Yagudin was known as being the one with the personality. Much friendlier, and he engaged with the audience more than Plushenko.

@@erika6651Hi! I wasn't born yet back in the day and I'd really like to learn more about these two greats, their "rivarly" and what people thought about it... How is it possible that many thought that Plushenko had "no personality"?

@@filofilo1178 There rivalry was one for the ages! They initially both studied with Alexei Mishin. Yags felt like he wasn't getting the attention he needed so he moved on to Tatiana Tarasova. He was known as having more personality in the day because he played to crowds a bit more than Plushenko. He also lived and trained in Connecticut for a few years so he had the chance to learn English, so that made him more charming to audiences in America. Plushenko, with his quick movements and bizarre outlandish choreographies definitely seems full of personality, but back in the day that was just seen as Mishin's work. Mishin's skater tended to wear wild attention grabbing outfits (Urmanov took the cake with that lol) and have moments where the skaters would pose and act out scenes from movies or to some story only the skater and choreographer was familiar with lol Another aspect of their personas I recall is Yagudin was not afraid to show his emotions where Plushy was quite reserved and stone faced most of the time. That would be another example of how Plush was perceived as having less or no personality.

@@filofilo1178 Haha I just have a good memory. They were both so damn talented. 20 years later Yagudin is remembered by those of us who watched him. Plushenko, because he stayed in the amateur game longer, is probably now regarded with a greater legendary status.
