Jahn Teigen sang "Optimist" at the Melodi Grand Prix 1989 Final, Norway's national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest that year.
There were 9 entries in the final, after which judges would choose 3 songs to send to a superfinal. "Optimist" was the big audience favorite that year, but judges didn't choose it for the superfinal, which led to loud booing by the audience, who then started clapping and shouting "Teigen, Teigen!".
Footage from the NRK archives, upscaled and converted to 50fps with Topaz Video Enhance AI.
why did nrk not want to use the 4:3 format?
thanks for 50 subs
