They recorded this album via analog instead of digital recording to give it a raw sound. They took everything their teachers and professionals they knew had taught them about recording and threw it out the window. Good choice if you ask me. I love this band.

No words, no movement, no human form of communication can properly communicate the level of sheer hatred and rage in the chorus of this song. I'm trying to choreograph this for a musical that these songs need, and NOTHING seems to work for this song. Nothing. It's that awesome.

***** It's not that. Fighting wasn't an option for him. It's building a person to fight, and kill, and die. That's morally wrong. It's just as bad as using a child soldier. Light made a person, not a weapon, and he made that person to fight and die. Dr. Light was not a hero. Just a man, who made mistakes that broke him. A victim of Wily, and of his own need for vengeance. A tragic man.

Joe was the last hero as far as this story is concerned. Far as I understand, this isn't meant to be a story with a happy ending. We'll see when Act III comes out.

I think there's going to be a redemption. Mega Man was disenchanted, but I think that was but another step in his journey toward becoming a hero, and creating heroes. "If these people tell their children..." Where I think this is going, is that heroism, as Joe demonstrated, has to be a choice.

This is the first song I heard from The Protomen. I didn't know about the overarching story behind it but I visualized X tearing down all the robots. I thought the "brother" he was talking about was Zero. Near the end of the song, he faces Sigma who sic his robot hound on him. X with a single backhand smack shatters the robopup. Then the most epic battle between X and Sigma commences. I wish I could animate a quality AMV showing this.

I wouldn't really call it punk at all since the core messages of the album seem to be "The plight of the weak is selfish and deceitful," and "Your oppressors are actually well intentioned HEROIC UBERMENSCHES keeping you masses in line." Fascism isn't PUNK. The punk spirit is the opposite of the filth that The Protomen preach.
@RockmanBrawler44

Your conception of The Protomen's music is so wrong I saw myself forced to step out of my working place, log in on KZitem and clue you in, cuz' you don't have an idea of what you're saying. If you pay attention (which I doubt you do), you'll see that the Fascist Leader, Doctor Wily, is NOT the hero, he's the VILLAIN. Mega Man is fighting said fascism, these "The plight of the weak is selfish and deceitful" and "Your oppressors are actually well intentioned HEROIC UBERMENSCHES keeping you masses in line" you mention are EXACTLY what the villain preaches, the hero is fighting said opression and trying to inspire others to do the same; In "The Sons of Fate", Protoman's last words express his desire for mankind to see that "A Hero is just a Man who knows he's Free", therefore this music is, for all intents and purposes, Punk and you are mistaken.
@MichaelO2000

How the hell is the story that's main message is "Silence against oppression leads to destruction. Stand up to your oppressors." PRO FASCISM? Either you're a troll or you're completely misunderstanding the message of this story.
@incorrigibleg

All of these kind of video games & anime are essentially Nietzschean, Futurist theater. Even Punk itself is elementally fascist; in all video games, even if you're "saving the world" it is through an ascent to what amounts to becoming a superman. There were attempts to mute this essence by making the heroes fight "for" equality, but they stand as monuments not to equality, but to inequality for the story always will imply that inequality for some great ones is always necessary for equality among the mass to exist. The Protomen however are not political to my knowledge, so to ascribe to them directly the implications which are necessarily teased out of the genre of art from which they draw inspiration is wrong. It is not wrong to notice the enormous authoritarian streak - even if at times it gives nods to some progressive notions, but it is wrong to accuse them of "preaching" something which, if you notice, is given a rather negative portrayal (a super-man like vengeance in this case.)

I just came up with a crazy idea/theory while listening to this album for the 100th time or so... Couldn't you basically listen to this album (minus the first two titles), but in the context of Protoman himself? Instead of Megaman discovering protoman living and under WIley's control- What if Protoman discovered *Joe* still alive under Wiley's control? What made Protoman finally abandon Light and leave (in the same way Protoman's death eventually makes Megaman leave) could have very well been the discovery of his "predecessor". I think this could be further reinforced that Light would have hidden Joe's legacy from Protoman- Which also explains why he chooses to try and tell Megaman; in the hopes that things would turn out differently this time.
