Thanks I really appreciate the comment. I’m gonna reach back out to Flywoo and see if they can figure out a proper way to disable the VTX. If you have hot air solder equipment, and better skills than me, you could remove the RTC chip successfully. When I did it I used a big heat gun and accidentally disrupted a bunch of other components… that’s what killed it. The BetaFPV AIO board might actually have a way to disable the analog VTX, I’m not familiar with what board is used in that setup though. Hi man, so I haven’t made any progress with that swap yet. The lenses I have won’t focus unless they are barely screwed in, so I need to find a different solution. As far as how to do it, the lenses just screw out, and then screw back in, at which point you’d have to look through the goggles and focus the image. The thread is an M8 so most nano lenses would fit. If I find a good solution I’ll definitely share with that community. Appreciate the comment, cheers!

Thanks for taking the time to reply, I hope you do get around to achieve this, can't find any other info on doing a lens swap on this camera so you would be the first I guess. @GiantAntCowboy
2 жыл бұрын
@@stevenedwards408 sure thing, removing and installing the lens is actually super easy, it’s literally just a screw in/out lens on this camera. Just avoid touching the back of the lens and the image sensor. You can clean them, but it’s best to avoid. Screwing the lens in and out is how you focus it, which you’ll have to do if you remove it, and even factory lenses can be out of focus so it’s worth checking periodically.

What i would like to know is with a pair of say FatSharks or DJI goggles will i see an image " closer " to my fov and not the tunnel effect ??? i do not know anyone who has goggles.
@GiantAntCowboy
2 жыл бұрын
With box goggles yes, it looks like a tv down a tunnel. This is because it’s literally one large screen set far enough away that you can focus on it. With binocular style goggles you have two small screens, and the “darkroom/tunnel” effect is reduced significantly. At some point you can upgrade to a set of binocular goggles and keep your box goggles for spectators, or co-pilots. Search the classifieds, eBay and Craigslist for good deals. A lot of people sell decent used stuff, 90% of the FPV equipment was bought used. Thanks for watching, cheers!

@GiantAntCowboy
Жыл бұрын
No issues with anything close-range. On my long-range setup though I seemed to be getting some interference and ended up moving the ELRS RX/Antennas to the front of the quad. No problems since, BUT the initial problem could have actually been an environmental issue… (WiFi, Cell tower, and high tension power lines were all around my test location). Either way it’s always best to separate radio/electronic equipment whenever possible, especially for long-range builds.

If you have hot air solder equipment, and better skills than me, you could remove the RTC chip successfully. When I did it I used a big heat gun and accidentally disrupted a bunch of other components… that’s what killed it. Anyway to your question, the HDZero Whoop Lite VTX and Camera kit is $99 and the BetaFPV AIO board I used is like $50, so all said it cost around $150. Thanks for watching, let me know if you have any conversion success, cheers!

@@GiantAntCowboy thanks for getting back to me. My biggest problem or more question is which digital system to go for. All my stuff is analog ATM. So I'm trying to decide which digital system to go for.
@GiantAntCowboy
2 жыл бұрын
@@lionelfrenchface ah yea, there’s really no right answer here… I too came from analog and decided to try HDZERO because of a few things: 1) I already owned HDO goggles and could easily add the HDZero VRX to them, which was cheaper than buying brand new DJI 2) Since you have the same goggles you can continue flying your analog quads, as well as use the same antennas 3) I do a lot of longer-range stuff and liked that HDZero was a “receive only” system, meaning the goggles and VTX are not linked together. This is good because if you lose signal it can come back quickly without a rebinding process like DJI, which can freeze and reboot. 4) HDZero is more customizable, and has* multiple manufacturers and vendors, a solid community, and the company actively engages the community all the time. * I starred (*) multiple manufacturers because HDZero is still relatively new and the system is quickly evolving, because of this there has historically been lower levels of production and availability; Covid and manufacturing shutdowns in China didn’t help this over the last year either… but larger companies are starting to prototype HDZero equipment (Foxeer for example) and HDZero themselves are even developing a seemingly very impressive goggle specifically for the system. - DJI is a great “plug and play” option but can be more expensive, depending on if you currently have decent goggles. - DJI does have better image resolution and arguably better penetration, but it does both by broadcasting and re-broadcasting video signals. This can cause slow (high latency) blurry video feed when signal gets bad. Where as HDZero maintains consistent resolution and latency but shows static like classic analog. - DJI doesn’t support Canvas mode so you have very limited OSD elements and they are not recorded to the DVR, which is another issue for longer-range type flights… Then there is Walksnail or Fatshark, but no one really knows what’s going on there yet… So hopefully my long-winded response provides some helpful insight for your decision. If you have follow up questions let me know, cheers!

@GiantAntCowboy
Жыл бұрын
I’ve had the issue Flywoo is mentioning in the past, however mine was a custom build with a separate VTX. The fix was to wire the VTX to VBat because the 5v pad didn’t supply enough power when throttling. Is yours a BNF? Or a custom build? Does the DVR footage show voltage dropping hard before the VTX cuts out? Let me know.

@@GiantAntCowboy No, I have the one with the on board vtx right.. How do you wire the vtx to bat? Is one of those pads the vtx power? The bat is lower voltage though, but I guess would give more amps? I think I would want to wire it to the 5v rail maybe which should be 2amp? Whatever rail its on rn isn't sufficient obviously, unless it's the camera which is shutting down but I don't think it is.@@GiantAntCowboy

If you go to the 1:40 mark of the video i show where I wired the HDZero VTX. I used the 5v pad, but was losing video too I believe. You can use the VCC for direct battery power which should give more amps. (Try both maybe) The board in mine was the “goku versatile f4” if you search that there are some diagrams available I think. Ultimately as shown in my video I killed the board and replaced it with a completely different one. Hope that helps, but let me know.

Help please! I got Flywoo 1.6" and Radiomaster Boxer. I did flash Boxer with EdgeTX and ELRS and adjusted Models. On the drone flashed ELRS and binded RX to TX, also added arm/disarm switch and air/horizon switch. Everything looks working - drone does arm/disarm, but when i tilt the drone slightly(without props - just tested on the bench) motors start to spin faster and/or slower and if tilt bit more - it disarms. Also when i throttle up and motors start to spin faster and get themselves fixed in a constant high speed and the trottle gimbal doesn't affect it anymore(not working) - the disarm switch still works. Could you help me please? What can i do to fix it?
@GiantAntCowboy
Жыл бұрын
So believe or not this is normal behavior. Without props your quad can’t control it self and is constantly trying to fight the movements you’re making with your hand. Additionally you probably have “AirMode” turned on, which is why the throttle goes up high and stays there. Again you quad is trying to adjust itself but can’t without props. As long as Arm/Disarm work I’d suggest you put the props on (in the correct direction) and Arm the quad somewhere safe. It’s probably perfectly fine but of course be prepared to disarm in case… Let me know if it works out. Cheers!

@@Braincho hey, AirMode is different than Acro mode. AirMode allows the quad (PIDs) to make bigger corrections at lower throttle positions and it is better left On. But, if you want to test the quad without props then Turning AirMode Off can make sense. You’ll find the AirMode ON/OFF option in the BetaFlight Configuration Tab about half way down, you can also assign it to a switch if desired. However, you can just put props in this quad and do a test flight. I’m sure it’s fine. Also such a small quad isn’t really dangerous if something goes wrong.
