@@kenyettaready That depends on the builders and where they can be located. Houses are really expensive for several basic reasons, and you won't like the answers. The American public has bought into the idea that 'bigger is better', 'more is more', 'I deserve more', 'I need more', 'My more needs to be more, more then their more', 'I have to have bigger, better, more...NOW...don't you know who I AM!!!' The human ego has become a self serving tyrant that believes IT should have what ever IT wants. We have those same said ego's in places of government as well as home builders. As long as there is an ego to be played another ego will. And this is true of every sector of our country and government. The American people try to blame the government people - that they put in office either by voting, or more correctly, not voting. Those same gov't people pull off some shady, selfserving stuff. But the American Citizenry is still wholly responsible for everything happening. Crying impotence does not mean it's true. If EVERYONE voted, by ballot & by dollar, made calls everyday to 'public servants', showed up to rallies....and paid attention to what's really going on, we'd have a different country. But most folks would rather complain from their arm chairs in their McMansions.

This guy is brilliant and his idea of turning shipment containers to affordable housing for homeless is a game changer. Not only are you address an environmental issue of shipment container graveyards but a social issue of dealing with homelessness. But on the bigger picture you can also address the housing crisis for lower income people. People my age cannot afford homes, my mother who is retired cannot afford a home but what this guy is creating and trying to pitch would make that happen. If people want to own larger traditional style housing the market can always be there but for people with lower income or limited income options this can be a major solutions.

I haven't been watching these tiny house videos for too long but he talked a lot here about them being 'affordable' but IDK, I still haven't seen a video about someone living in a tiny home that they bought, paid for, and found land for, all while working on the minimum wage. It's affordable for some professionals sure, but still very out of reach for the truly vulnerable. I love that this guy wants to take what he's learned and share it for a worthy cause.

Thanks for sharing this! Absolutely fabulous design, Scott. Love that you're assisting with the homeless issues- so critical these days when sadly, too many people seem so self centered. We need more humans like Scott, willing to help others. Love the stacked containers & the connecting vertical housing the staircase. I've only seen one or two similar; believe one was in Europe & the other in Panama. Leaving the industrial look unfinished is fantastic. I prefer seeing everything in its raw form-conduit for wiring, use of beetle kill pine & the exposed steel beams. Reusing materials is another plus! My dad's uncles & later at least 6 of his brothers were iron ore miners in NY near the Canadian border until the mines closed in 1967. The phosphorus free iron ore mined from Chateaugay Ore & Iron Mining, later known as Republic Steel Iron, was 79% pure & used in building. The Brooklyn Bridge, George Washington Bridge, Golden Gate Bridge were among many projects that used the iron from this mine. There were others especially during WWII. I tend to think that's my connection with industrial design appreciation. I loved seeing your notes left along the staircase- a personal touch. The open space of the Airbnb rental makes it seem larger. The combination of industrial & contemporary design & furnishings; toolbox for kitchenware storage- fantastic. Using vast expanses of glass brings the outdoors inside making those stunning views, essentially artwork. I plan on selling both my current home & a rental property at the NJ shore moving to the PNW next year. Still debating between building a tiny home or container home. Looking to have maximum energy efficiency & simplicity of design in my forever home. Container homes have a real advantage over tiny homes with regards to the dangers of wildfires although nothing is 100%. Using steel beams/concrete is a great idea amidst the earthquake zone. Scott- you should be incredibly proud of this artistic, creative, unique build.
