What’s even worse is that it’s not just government that does it, because school’s make it opt in, so parents can say my kid doesn’t need to know about this and just never teach them, currently only 30 states by law require sex education to be taught, in that only half of the high schools teach all 20 items by the cdc, then 39 states require the teaching of HIV/aids in their health class, where as 35 emphasize the importance of abstinence when sex ed or HIV/ STI instruction is provided,17 states provide abstinence only, where as 21 require instruction of contraception and condoms,12 states do not require sex ed to be , age appropriate ,medically accurate, culturally responsive or evidence based, and only 12 require information on consent, 4 states explicitly require instruction that discriminates against LGBTQ, where 10 have policies that include LGBTQ discussion, we need not only Sex Ed required to be taught but for it to be taught, but also to be held to a medically accurate standard

There is an American girl book titled "The care and keeping of you and your body" it is a great tool to help teach any young woman about the changes their body will go through . It does have pictures to illustrate things like using a tampon or breast development. We need to have open dialogues with the young women in our lives . We need to help prepare them for the changes their body will go through so they are not terrified.

I made certain that my girls were well prepared for their periods. My oldest is very open and didn’t care who knew, she basically announced it to our whole family! lol! That ended up being a blessing because my youngest daughter is EXTREMELY private and every time I tried to talk to her she refused. I ended up going to the store and purchasing 2 paper grocery bags full of every kind of pads and tampons I could find, all sizes, types, and absorbencies. I took them to her one evening when it was quiet and told her that we didn’t need to talk about anything but the bags were for her. I asked her to look through them when she felt like it so she would be familiar with them when the time came. I also told her I would talk to her about any of the products or my experiences if she wanted. Or she could talk to her sister if she was more comfortable doing so. I also told her if she wanted more of any of the products to just add them to the shopping list or leave a note on my dresser. I did find a short book that explained everything to her too. My girls are still very different and I’m glad I treated them in the ways that were best for them. Just know your girls! You’ll figure out the best way to handle their situation too! ❤❤❤

Lbv y'all do know bandages come in various sizes right?! I think the type of bandage she used was a gauze not a regular or those tiny bandaids. And it's not a total bad idea if that's the case and you don't have tissue,pads,tampons or clothes and all you have is a gauze.... And no!!! I didn't use a bandaid for my first time...i was busy rotting in agony at that time but stable enough to use sanitary napkins ( if you know, you know).

As the youngest of three older sisters I already knew everything by the time I was 8. And honestly most of my guy friends don’t seem bothered by it any ways. On of my friends goes and gets his girlfriend her products all the time and had he stuff in his room if she needed while she was over. In my opinion it’s not that big of a deal and you should help in the simple ways.

What year is this? How does neither of them know what is going on?
@Tendyōō
4 ай бұрын
Im not sure what year, but its VERY normal for kids to have no idea what a cycle is. During this part of the show, Im pretty sure there mother was other hospitalized, passed, deported , etc, and there father didnt know really anything much about a menstrual cycle, so both the kids are uneducated about that, as a lot of fathers will forget, or just dont know how to approach
@jacoblehn8752

I think you far overestimate kids, man. They might know the idea of it, but if you just start bleeding randomly with everything happening at once at 12 years old, you might get pretty damn scared. Even if you know what's happening, you don't necessarily know what to do. Her mom never came out of the hospital like the boy said, so is probable she doesn't have a strong female influence in her life

I know we learn about puberty in school, like grade 5 or 6 (9-10year old) in Canada. I just assumed it was the same in the US
@kreebeeknee

So I'm grade 7 aka 12 yrs old I'm in Canada btw and literally every single person from grade 5 and up knows what a period is and what to do when it happens. Shows normally exaggerate things heavily for dramatic effect or smth. Idk why people think ppl 13 and younger are just stupid I think some ppl are forgeting also got a brain and like we literally have it in our curriculum every year gr 5 and up..
@jacoblehn8752

@kreebeeknee her mom is dead. She's being raised by her single dad. You can't compare your situation against every other woman's. I remember my sister freaking the hell put when it first happened, and my mom trying not to smile. Please stop assuming all people's circumstances are the same.

Literally women aren’t even included in the trials of sanitary products until last year. And most men don’t understand basic female biology to the degree they are trying to ban women’s healthcare.
