Is playing musical instruments exceptionally well in church "the highest bar" that black musicians set for themselves? I don't get it. I play exceptionally well and I play in church, but playing in church is not the highest bar for me. It's the lowest.

@@sebastianchristopher9461 well but playing in church, you are often exposed to situations when you adapt on songs which you did not rehearse with complex chords changes sometimes and that makes you expetional. But I respect your opinion though👍👍

@@frankloubadi9161 You make no sense. Classical and jazz pianists don't play in church. They play at concert halls and jazz festivals and start learning piano from an early age with a piano instructor. They then go to college to study classical and jazz piano, not to play in church but to make a career as a pianist playing in concert halls, getting record deals, playing at jazz festivals etc. But Gospel pianists and organists have a different mindset. They think playing at a mega-church, behind a preacher or a Gospel singer is the highest bar as a GOSPEL musician.

@@sebastianchristopher9461 lots of jazz musicians chose to continue their careers in different ways hence some choose to play gospel which is something pretty interesting however i don't clearly understand when you talk about pride of these gospel musicians. you cannot generalize, actually not every gospel musicians have arrogance i think those with arrogance are just a minority

Playing in church is for the birds dude. Every seasoned Gospel musician knows that and stops playing in church. It's a dead end, low paying, underappreciated job that no musician should be proud of. But it's a job and someone has to do it...right?
