Remember Owen Hart, the wrestler? He was lowered on a harness which broke over the wrestling arena, and he died after falling a long way. 1999, I believe. The show`s staff were so busy getting other things ready, they forgot to double-check the safety harness, and tragedy befell Owen Hart, right on live TV, in a packed arena.
@kimberleegarcia2363

I saw it on the fb early the following morning before they blocked it. And as the weeks passed and the news reporters and lawyers started showing it in slow motion you could actually see that his harness was not fitting like all the others. And after all private inspections were done they said 4 or 5 seats had been tampered with to fit taller people. I still have empathy for his family and friends.

He was just a few pounds shy of being 100 pounds heavier than allowed on that ride. Several forms of negligence on the park's behalf. To be fair, when you're very tall and large you have to be careful and look out for your own safety too but he was 14. The park should have checked. The family sued the park and settled, I'd say AT LEAST 20 million

@@cjhoward409 ,I agree. I also feel like the light went on when he got on and pulled the harness on. It may have just clicked into place enough to allow the light to go on. Such a devastating situation and a tragic loss of a young person who hadn't even begun his life. So, so many lives damaged in addition to his life ending in such a terrible way. His family, his friends, other park patrons witnessing his fall, the poor child operating the ride, the first responders on scene, and the emergency room personnel all were and likely still are living the nightmare of that moment over and over. This, unfortunately, isn't an isolated incident, though. Many, if not most, deaths/serious injuries on amusement park rides that aren't fully caused by a defect or malfunction in the rides themselves occur when people who aren't within the size parameters of the ride are still allowed to ride. People, particularly really young people, are more concerned with not offending another person than they are with following safety protocols. And

I remember holding down my 9 year old nephew in a ride like this because he was too SMALL for the ride. He was tall enough but didn’t weight nearly enough to safely ride that ride. I didn’t realize he was too thin until we were in the air and all I could do was hold onto him….which I did for the entire time. I hated it, nephew hated it and we didn’t ride another ride the rest of the day because we were both so shocked. The ones checking the seat belts before hitting the “go” button should be confident enough to say “yes” or “no” to a rider.

The kid running that dangerous ride should have been supervised.

My deepest sympathy for his family. Money doesn't buy everything. Animal cookies... I haven't seen those in decades.

I agree 100% he should've never been allowed on that ride. When I worked in the business,all rides with a harness as such had 2 lights to indicate a positive lock. One at the seat and one on the panel. The seat one was for a quick inspection to narrow down which one wasn't set. The harness when down would activate a microswitch completing the circuit . Either the switch was defective or had been shifted to the point his bar would indicate the lock.

That grocery store looks pretty cool.. I saw the video. It was sad. 😔I can’t believe he was even allowed to go on that ride, either.🥺

he was old enough to understand about weight limits. Im sure that they weighed him at school. This has got to be the worst way for a kid to die. This was so unfair.

I remembered when this sad story happened, I was actually just there this past weekend and they where in the process of dismantling the ride I’m sure by now they’re done.
